its been 4 days since fed ex delivered my package with the RFE inside it but they still have not scanned in the package yet. i talked to a supervisor and she said it should be done by thursday and today i checked it was still not done. has anybody else have had any issues like this. can somebody please tell me how long it took them. thank you

I don't know of any save-enabled version out there. Or at least I wasn't able to find one.

There is a program which will sort of let you save locked PDF files (which I used for exactly this).

Basically you fill out the DS-230 as normal and then (using this program) you select print and it creates a PDF file with everything you filled out.

You won't be able to edit the answers after you do this, but at least you can fill it out and e-mail it to your S.O. if need be.

It's really easy, but let me know if you have any problems.

I used Adobe Acrobat Professional 8...u can edit and save the DS-230. You might have to purchase it. I just filled it out, edited/saved it and emailed as a .pdf attachment to my husband. He just had to print and sign.

Using Adobe Acrobat Reader only allows you to edit and print.

Deep, try using a PDF reader that will allow you to save changes. CutePDF and PDF-Viewer are two good ones. Google them. They're free.

but speaking of the DS-230, does anyone have any idea what would happen if one did this??

If the beneficiary quit their job, and you changed that ONE page and line of information on the DS-230 to list the job no longer as present, THEN take that page to your interview at the embassy, tell them you quit, and give them that updated form....

would this complicate the situation and take extra 2 weeks to process from that one little change? would there be problems if someone did this?

i think it's best to not quit and not change anything. but should the need arise, what would be the best course of action? any opinions?

Agreed that not quitting is the best option. The embassies always say "Don't quit your job, sell your home, buy tickets, or make any plans until you have the visa in hand." blah blah blah. But it's your life; you know what you want. Hehehe.

As for changing the DS-230, it's fine. The NVC doesn't actually approve any documents. They gather forms, organize them their way, and check for completeness. When you get your CC, it's literally your casefile is complete and can be forwarded to the embassy to make the visa decision. The CO is the one who has the ultimate say.

If you need to update your employment information, just print a new one. Don't keep the old one; it would be a lie. I don't know about telling them you quit right out. I'd explain "I no longer work at XYZ Company, so I have an updated DS-230 for you." If they ask why I no longer work for XYZ, then I'd be honest that I quit. Just me. You may want to do things differently.

So... no problems. CO has the final say regarding your documents; NVC is more of a document processing service. It won't take 2 weeks to process a form. Be honest at the interview. Good luck!

Update:

I just called the NVC on a whim and the AVR is now updated!

It says, " The NVC has received your checklist letter response on April 20th 2010 and is under review. After review, you will be notified of the outcome"

Wow, that was quick, they only received my RFE response on the 16th and it was brought in from the mailroom on the 20th. I wonder if the fact that it was sent to the "DR" made a difference in helping me jump the line (Sorry folks)...

Anyway, I guess I can now start trying to log in and wait for the SIF.

I was able to save the PDF file using "Acrobat 8"

Now, the space is very limited on the new form, all of the information is not getting saved.

Do you guys/girls know how to increase the space to type in text on a DS230 form? :bonk:
