sorry i forgot to update here in this thread. That list for interview waiting people is getting shorter, but it needs to be gone and everyone needs a date! Anyway, here is the full details of Mhay's interview:

Ok, Mhay gave me all the information about her interview. Here is her timeline for the day:

5:30 am at the line

6:00 am open the gate

STEP 1: Submit appointment letter, DS-230,2pcs 2x2pic.and they will give u number.(6:30am)

STEP 2: Pre-Screening <they will ask some questions there > (7:00am)

STEP 3: Finger Scanning (7:35am)

STEP 4: Consular Interview(8:00am)

STEP 5: They will call your number to where you can get your pink stub and the paper you need to fill up for the delivery of your visa.(address)(8:07am)

STEP 6: payment AIR21 ( 8:10am)

Here are the questions that they asked her during the prescreening and interview with the consular officer:

Q&A at the pre-screener:

1. Who is your petitioner?

2. How old are you?

3. What is the name of your petitioner?

4. Address of your petitioner?

5. Job of your petitioner?

6. Where did u meet?

7. When did u meet him? and how?

8. When did the relationship start?

9. Your petitioner has a kid? Does the kid live w/him?

10. First time u get married?

11. How many times does your partner get married?

12. When was the last time you see your husband?

13. When he visited here, how long did he stay?

14. Do you have any pictures, remittance or cards with you? Give me at least 5pcs of cards.

Consular interview

1. Who will petition you?

2. How long have you been married?

3. Where does your husband live now?

4. Where and when did you meet your husband?

5. Where in US will you live?

6. What is your husband's job?

7. When is the last time you saw him personally?

8. Who are the kids in your wedding pictures?? Name them.

"Your visa is approved, go to waiting area and wait for your number to be called." I smiled and say THANK YOU MA'AM...then after 2mins they call my number to go to window 37 to get the pink stub and told me to pay at AIR 21..

Then they said after you pay, you can go.

Mhay said that her consular interviewer was very soft spoken...hard to hear. They started the interview in english and the interviewer thought that she couldnt understand the english, so she brought in an interpreter. She did mention that one of the other consular officers in the next room over was quite loud too, so it made it even harder to hear her consular officer, but everything turned out good. Now we just wait for the visa. I checked the air21 site to see if her tracking number was loaded yet, and of course it isnt. I figure it will be a day or 2 before it is loaded. It looks like I will be buying her ticket for her to fly on the 8th of May, so we have about 3 weeks until we are together again! Thanks for all the support and help. Mhay wanted me to thank everyone for their prayers too.

Jada and Gina, That's great! Congrats!

RPS, hang in there. I'm interested in seeing how this letter from the embassy thing works out. For the PCC, is there an embassy for the Maldives in your area? Or maybe they do it by mail?

There is an actual PCC form for the Maldives!! What I'm most confused about is included prepaid postage that is required (I'm not quite sure how to get a prepaid envelop from Maldives to Italy -- hmmmmmm).

I'm praying that my husband was only in Maldives for less than 6 months. We're going on an old passport hunt today!!

Question regarding Question #30 on DS230 Part 1 (List any place you've lived longer than 6 months):

How strict is the six month PCC requirement, is it more than 6 months and you need a PCC?

or

Are you clear from this requirement if it's 6 months or less?

This is something Husby and I went 'round and 'round on.

He studied and worked in Australia for a year. During that year, he returned to Thailand for 2 1/2 months. He was never in Australia for more than 6 months at a time. He also has the entry and exit stamps in his passport to prove it. So... to get the PCC from Australia or not?

Husby's thoughts were: It says 6 months. I wasn't there 6 months. AND Bangkok requires PCCs for places lived for 12 months or more. It's clearly not needed.

My stand is this: If you write it on the DS-230, you should get a PCC from there just to be safe. Unless it's the US because you've already been run through the system here.

What did we do? We jumped through the Aussie's hoops and got the Australian PCC. It was sent in with our IV packet.

I don't know if that helps at all. Sorry.

The Bears--In your case, it is quite clear when you say he was "living and working" for one year in Australia. The 2.5 months he was in Thailand means that he was "visiting" Thailand. So yes, he would require a PCC for Australia even though he was never there continuously for 6 months or more at one go.

For example, I spent 4 years in the U.S. -- I just put that down from 2005 to 2009, even though I came back home for the summer and winter breaks. No point in breaking those trips up as I was living/studying/working in the U.S. and for all purposes classified as a NRI (Non-Resident Indian) till last December.

The questions says LIVED. Read and interpret literally. This applies to all the forms.

You cannot leave any gaps in that column. However, I do know that someone who listed having lived in Canada for 5 months and didn't attach a PCC as it was less than 6 months was still RFEd for it and asked to produce it.

Right, Sachi, but Bangkok wants PCCs for places lived for "more than 12 months" is how it's stated on the forms. Husby had fun deconstructing it -- How is 12 months calculated? Is it 365 full days or just December to December? Husby was in Aus from 12/22/07 to 12/7/08 with a 2 1/2 month break to return to Thailand. It's just something Husby likes to do.

We got the PCC, so we should be fine. They're sneaky little things, though, Bangkok! They want the PCC from Australia authenticated by the Australian Embassy in Bangkok before they'll accept it. We only knew that because another woman had been 221g'd for it and mentioned it to me. That was another indication that we should probably get the PCC no matter what.

Side Note: I think I understand why Bangkok may be full. They seem to only take around 10 family-based cases per day. April had 5 holiday days. May will have 3. June is all clear. Yep... we're getting in for June.

Hmm, sounds like a good thing you got the PCC eitherway.

I suppose so. Hope the airports open soon! I'm worried. I have to submit stuff to VFS soon!

In our case, he was in Maldives on a 4 mo contract then returned to Italy, while in Italy, he received a second contract and returned to Maldives. We'll get the PCC just to be safe as #30 is probably flagged all over the place now. BUT - upon review, hubby listed other countries, UK (2 places) and Mauritius, and we didn't get PCC for them and they are not requesting those. I specifically asked the operator on the phone and she said, "the only PCC we are requesting is from Maldives."

Do I get PCC from all these countries just for fun or only provide NVC with what they are specifically requesting?

How does VFS work? Is it that nothing that hasn't cleared them is allowed at the interview? Or are they more along the lines of a second NVC -- there to assemble documents for each case?

Oh. Wow! Me being me, I'd get them from all over the place and then be happy even though they were never used. In reality, though, if NVC wants Maldives only, then you probably only need the Maldives.
