Sassy, word of advice - is there any way you could attend the interview in person? reason I mention is it b/c my old college roomate worked as a consulate officer in the american embassy in Guyana for 2 years and he used to do visa interviews (he's back in the states now). he used to tell me loads of fraud stories and the one thing he's been telling me over and over is that attending the interview along with your spouse lends a ton of credibility to proving a legit relationship, even though you could be married for years. (ironically, he himself applied for a K1 fiance visa for his japanese fiance and is awaiting her interview in Tokyo, which good for him, got approved...)

anyway, just my 2 cents and hope this helps...

This is very interesting. I have been planning on being there when my husband has his interview but the thing is that the Casablanca embassy does not let the spouse in. I'm assuming Guyana is different? But, does your former-CO friend have any ideas/suggestions for this kind of situation? I know there are several embassies that work this way too so it would be helpful not just to myself. Thanks!

Ok, I know these questions have been asked before and I searched for the answer but please humor me....I'm one tired teacher tonight! I did go back and read Sachi's very detailed post (Thank you!) on page 41 of this thread, but since I have filed both the 1040EZ and the 1040 I want to make sure I've got this correct. With the I-864EZ on question #19 I know we use line 4, the adjusted gross income, if I filed a 1040EZ but for a 1040 is it line 22 (total income) or line 37 (adjusted gross income)?

And just to verify for question #18 my income will be changing a bit in 2010 since I will not be doing one of my part-time jobs starting in the fall. I went ahead and got employment letters from my other jobs that I will still be doing, but I do have extra projects and bonuses I earn which are not reflected in the salary on the employment letter. So I'm thinking that on question #18 I should just use the total figures from the employment letters, even though it then shows up as a lower number than what I have filed on my previous three tax returns. Is this correct? I am not concerned about going below the minimum income required without the bonuses and extra projects, so this is just a matter of making sure I fill out the form correctly. Thanks!

1. Total Income.

2. Use the numbers from the letters. So long as you don't go below the minimum, you're fine. Otherwise, you might want to have the letters redone to include an estimate of the bonuses.

2. I'll just use the numbers from the letters.

Sorry to hear about the lack of interview date today. I hope you get it soon! I really appreciate how you always answer questions here...you and everyone else. Since I'm working more than one job I don't get the chance to post as often and I feel a little bit outside of the support group that has formed here. I am not complaining at all...I know I don't respond to everyone's posts all the time due to my schedule so it's completely natural. What I am trying to say (badly...lol) is that I appreciate the fact that even though I can't always comment to everything all the time I sincerely appreciate the fact that VJ members in this thread are still willing to answer my questions and if I can help at all someone in the future, I certainly will. Thanks again everyone for being so willing to share your knowledge and be understanding! :) I honestly don't know where we would be in this process without all of you!!
