well for me, from time of receipt of documents by the NVC, it took 8 days (rec'd april 6th according to AVR and CC on 4-14, although my docs were rec'd on 4-2 (AOS) and 4-5 (DS-230)). but this was w/o any RFEs...

the only thing the machine says is that "nvc received your documents on april 8. please allow 6 to 8 weeks for processing". it does not tell me what documnets they have recieved or if they have received all of them.

Yup - i guess it depends on when you want to start counting. i started getting the message "

the nvc has rec'd your dox..." on the AM of april 6th. you're also correct above - there is no mention of which kind of package, except that "the NVC rec'd MAIL on" so and so date. after the 6th, every time i called, the only thing the ops were able to tell me was that mail was rec'd on april 2nd and 5th (aos and ds-230, respectively, since the aos and ds230 were rec'd on 3-30-10 and 4-1-10, respectively). those dates specifically, b/c that's when someone in the mail room opens them up and enters them into the system. after that is when the real review begins.

The reason I go by the actual date of delivery rather than when the AVR says they did is because most of the times the AVR is pretty unreliable--especially, the last month or so, as a lot of us Marchers can attest to. My packages for example were never inputted into the AVR.

Jada and Gina, That's great! Congrats!

RPS, hang in there. I'm interested in seeing how this letter from the embassy thing works out. For the PCC, is there an embassy for the Maldives in your area? Or maybe they do it by mail?

Hoboken, I totally agree. Most of the Thai documents only list first names of parents. It's a pain in the butt, especially when my MIL has a very common name. Every time I translated the docs, I would cringe thinking of the NVC officer going "Needs a last name. Needs a last name. Needs a last name." and issuing an endless stream of RFEs.
