YES! being together is what that counts; doesnt matter if you're a USC or Italian! that is my dream - to one day live in Sorrento or Capri. I loved Tuscany too (San Gimingnano is amazing!)...heck I would stay in Italy if I were you (think A Good Year, except in Italy!)

Just called NVC again (3rd time). Supervisor said to get a letter from the Italian Embassy in Tripoli saying they will not request the birth certificate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then they'll accept the birth certificate we included in the DS-230 (an original document from Italy). Let the fun begin...

Sorry about the rfe, it should be today or tomorrow for me to be able to sif Im getting nervous and second guessing myself and hoping for the best. Still makes me constantly look and entering in my case number, already did it this morning and still logging in. So in my mind im thinking they recv'd by avr my docs on the 9th, it should be today. Gosh I have to stop. LOL

Sandra you will get your LIF fast!!! You have come so far in this and having to wait for your husband to finish his military duties is almost unbearable!!! Are you planning to go over there with him for the interview??? I am so excited for you!!!!

Well that's good! now its on to the PCC from the maldives!

So here's the deal - I think we'll be able to prove with passport stamps that hubby was NOT in Maldives for 6 consecutive months and then hopefully we'll be able to forgo that RFE. We're also going to search his parents house for a possible original of the birth certificate (tomorrow). Going out tonight to drink/dance off the stress of NVC!!!

Heck yes Im going!! This will be my 7th trip there since we married. Will we have our 2nd year of marriage on May 4. I can't believe its been 2 years. Yes the military was tough for him and me, but we made it. Should be smooth sailing now. Thanks for your kind words Andrea. Good luck tomorrow when your husband arrives I know your excited girl.

It's a real one - the operator said the birth certificate looks like a photo copy - I responded saying that it is an original (which it is) along with a photo copy - and if we go get another it will look the same. She has to get a supervisor to review (10-15 days) before a decision is made. Further, my husband has to get a police certificate from the Maldives -- any advice on where to get this?

It's official, I hate NVC.

I had an RFE for J1 Waiver & supervisor too had to review it & they said 10-15 days. If you look at my timeline, RFE date 03.30.10 and SIF 04.05.10. So don't believe the 10-15 #######. Good luck to you! Hope yours will process as fast!

Thanks! also just called NVC and confirmed my CC as of last night! i asked them if there was any way they could schedule me in for may and the operator said that they were scheduling interviews for may this week and the next (i think she said next). she said to call back tomorrow or monday - so perhaps there's a miniscule chance that we can make it - surely will hope and pray so!

Well if they will be scheduling next week too, then maybe your in luck!!! YES< PRAY!!!!!

I just have to put this out there, but seems like RFEs also depend on the NVC officer that reviews your case. I gotta tell you how lucky I think I am and why God is so great - my wife's birth cert (which she went thru hell getting) had her full maiden name, but chek this out - only her mom and dad's 1st names! when she asked the idiot chode who typed out the cert to put her parents full names (ie first AND friggin last names!), he flatly refused (this after already having been bribed and after 4 days of running my wife around in 110 degree humid south Indian weather)...needless to say, i was freaking out about if this would flag an RFE...

I agree! As hubby's question #30 was also incorrect but NVC didn't flag it, thank GOD!!!!

well for me, from time of receipt of documents by the NVC, it took 8 days (rec'd april 6th according to AVR and CC on 4-14, although my docs were rec'd on 4-2 (AOS) and 4-5 (DS-230)). but this was w/o any RFEs...
