We have pics of us doing 'couple stuff' like grocery shopping, helping family work on their house....

We have mail addressed to him and to the both of us. We have our Islamic marriage certificate from the day after he landed..........not alot but it's gonna have to do.

My bank quoted the 'Patriot Act' and said he had to have a SS number to put him on my account. Maybe I will try to open a new account somewhere else.

Good luck ya'll

Jax

my bank said the same, either a SSN or a tax identification number... but that takes just about as long as the SSN to get.

We are K3 applying for AOS but not sure when we'll get it all together yet. From what I've read K3's can't get a SS card until we get his EAD right? I looked at estimates for EAD and that's processing within 56-90 days depending on location.

What else should I be thinking about immigration wise and adjustment to the US right now?

Yep, I would advise that you file the EAD stand alone( a little bit more money, but worth it IMHO) and wait until he gets a SS# and subsequently more proof together to file with the AOS. You guys have already been married for 2 years so you dont have to wait for that to get the 10 yr... but you can still wait until you get some proof together for an easier approval/interview ;)

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I don't know about filing the EAD stand alone because it's cutting it so close for us. We want to file AOS before his medical expires July 8th so that it is still good and he doesn't have to get another one which costs around $700 here. I may try what Annie suggests and search for a bank that accepts his visa and passport until his social security card arrives so that we may have a joint account for proof. I'm not sure what other proof there is I could provide. I don't have bills. I don't have a lease or rental agreement. I don't have a car. I have a few cards addressed to us at the same address and some wedding invitations from friends and family that are coming up soon. I was hoping to change my last name and get a new drivers licenses with it showing my new address and last name and then get him a state ID card with the same address at least until he gets his drivers license. The family says they're going to throw us a reception here but the date isn't picked yet and they're looking at the month of June because there is so much already going on until then.

Well, you know what i have been meaning to research since we talked earlier about this... once the MD signs off on the K3 medical vaccinations ect from back home.. doesnt that 1 yr expiration date extend? See what Im saying? I mean, if they are valid for one year and the MD accepts that; doesnt that mean the exam the new MD preforms is actually the new exam date? I'm going off to check that out.. I'll be back

I dont know what else you can provide if you dont have bills, lease ect... take TONS of pics and maybe some letters from friends and family?

Ok, here's what it says...

Note: The results of the medical examination are generally valid for only 12 months. Applicants should schedule the medical examination as close as possible to the time they file for adjustment of status, but provide for sufficient time for the performance of laboratory testing or additional testing required under CDC's Technical Instructions.

This is in context to the exam done HERE by the civil surgeon. To me, that means you have one year after the exam done here before it expires; however you do have to get that one done before the k3 one done abroad expires after one year.

Thanks for taking the time to look that up Lisa. From my understanding the CS doesn't give a new exam when the last medical was within a year unless requested. This is because the last medical exam is good for a year if you file before that date. If the medical is within a year the CS is supposed to transcribe the DS-3025 which is the vaccination record and then sign off on that and put it in a sealed envelope. This saves the applicant considerable money. In our case a new medical and vaccinations are around $600. I've read some in other states get off a lot easier at a fee around $185. For the CS to sign off on my Husband's last medical and provide the transcribed documents it will only cost us $30. In some AOS cases I've read they just mailed in the copy of the DS-3025 and didn't have to get a CS here to sign off at all because the office providing the AOS would have received the original DS-3025 from the POE. The procedure for that changed around Nov. - Dec. last year and now we all have to go to the CS and either get a new medical or get them to sign off on the last medical if it was within a year and provide the signed I-693.

wacko.gif AOS seems more complicated.

Do you think we can use the same evidence we used in the Embassy interview? Pictures of the wedding with friends and family, plane tickets, ect?

ya, that makes sense. I think i was thinking the date signed on the 693 would "restart" the clock so to speak. It made sense in my head lol

No, the evidence from the interview wont be enough at all. You want to show that you are co mingling finances and living as a married couple here. pics are great of course but mainly you want to show proof of a shared address, shared accounts if you can and anything else that you can think of that any other "average" couple would have. I have our cover sheet with the itemized list of our proof saved to my pc at work. I'll try to remember tommorrow and send it to you via PM.

The AOS process still seems very complicated to me..I have a few questions that I got no answers for yet..

- Is it true that we have to send our AOS packet only to Chicago Lockbox since I entered the US on a K1 visa?

- Which office should we have our AOS interview at? Who determines that?

- How long before the I-194 expires should we file the AOS? [i came across this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/251704-aos-before-i-94-expires-worried/ last week and started to get worried, as we are waiting for my stepfather and brother to arrive here before we get married..which will not leave us enough time to start filing the AOS.

-Do I need my translated birth certificate for the AOS?
