What did you send in with the AOS packet?

I have the cover letter at home. I'll copy and paste the body of it into a reply on this thread later. It wasn't that difficult. Just make sure John orders his tax transcripts now so you won't have to worry about them later. The only other "odd" thing was Majid's birth certificate with translation. Everything else was simple :)

Hmmm, I'm worried about the birth certificates part as I lost the English translation of mine and John's original at Cairo Airport the day I flew to him.. We tried to contact Cairo Aiport authorities and the Egyptian embassy in the US with no help.. We did contact Home Land Security and it us to USCIS to prevent our identity's theft.. The only option we have now is file for new birth certificates and a translation for mine.. Did Majid request a translation of his at the Morrocan Embassy or did he do it on his own?

I'm REALLY happy for you Aya!!

It's smart of you to begin collecting everything you need and getting all set up for the wedding so you can begin on your AOS asap,

Sucks that you lost those documents... hopefully they will be found, or else you can get new extracts/translations. I'm sure it won't be too hard

Don't worry, isA it'll be fine and it'll all workout!

I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

Buy a wedding dress already!

BTW, I read here somewhere that you can translate your own Birth Certificate, look into that!

He did it on his own. He just certified that the translation was accurate and signed. He had translations done there and forgot them. His brother is mailing them, but we could wait for all that...

Thank you, Junita!! :)

I've been keeping all the important documents in one Folder so I don't lose them and I ended up losing the whole folder that included over 60 of our photos too.. I tried getting any help at the airport but no one knew hoq to help, or they seemed like they don't care

We still do have copies of everything though...I have a copy of my English certfied Birth Certificate..We'll probably still include it in the packet and contact the Egyptian embassy to see if they can issue me a new one here...

I'm just trying not to stress out, I stressed out enough during the visa stage :P

I'll buy my wedding dress early next year...we still have over a year to plan...although we'll need to do some shopping for our religious ceremony outfits and such :) We'll have it in May.

I see you got your NOA1 already, Congratulations!! :) InshaAllah your visa journey will go swift!! (F)

That sounds good, I'll probably translate mine and see how I can certfiy it or just order a certified translation from the embassy (if it's easy to do).

I can imagine how slow the mail can be from Morroco...I sent John a package back in late December from Cairo and it still hasn't arrived here yet!!

Jax...they allowed Hazem on my account w/ his VISA number and copy of his passport until the SS was available. It was not an issue with BOA. (marriage certificate too of course).

Jackie, I thought I have to have an SSN number before applying for AOS?

I also am changing my last name to John's or adding his to mine and I was hoping we just file for my SSN once, does anyone have any experience with that?

Is it true that some service centers are way faster than others? I saw the processing times of Florida offices and they take too long...can we just go for any other service center/office?

When's your interview date?

We are K3 applying for AOS but not sure when we'll get it all together yet. From what I've read K3's can't get a SS card until we get his EAD right? I looked at estimates for EAD and that's processing within 56-90 days depending on location.

What else should I be thinking about immigration wise and adjustment to the US right now?

Good idea Aya!

We will be filing as soon as I get my tax transcripts. Everything else is copied/completed and ready to go.

My bank wouldnt allow me to add Y because they couldnt add a non citizen via mail or something like that(there are no BofAs in KY)so we opened a new joint account at a local bank once he got his SS#.

Jax, thats great you guys have an interview already! can you add him on some utility bills and the lease at least? Only one of ours would allow me to add his name and we got him added to the lease right away of course. Also, mail addressed to both of you will help. Even if you cant show a joint account the utility bills will show a) that he shares your address and b) that you ARE comingling finances/responsibility.

Good Luck everyone!

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

We have pics of us doing 'couple stuff' like grocery shopping, helping family work on their house....

We have mail addressed to him and to the both of us. We have our Islamic marriage certificate from the day after he landed..........not alot but it's gonna have to do.

My bank quoted the 'Patriot Act' and said he had to have a SS number to put him on my account. Maybe I will try to open a new account somewhere else.

Good luck ya'll
