You really shouldn't post nonsense like that. A passport is valid until its validity date, not until 6 months before.

Just Bob!! You sometimes act like the world revolves around you. Some countries will not allow you to enter if you have less than 6 months left on your passport and that is a fact. They can choose to say it is not valid because it doesn't meet the number of minimum months left on it. You can look at it anyway you want but just because someone has a different opinion doesn't make their opinion nonsense. Have a good day ALMIGHTY BOB. SMFH*

Most embassies will not even grant you a visa if you have less than 6 months on your passport. It does not hurt to renew your passport prior to your 2 month trip. From my experience as a front line airline agent, even with a green card returning back to the US, some airlines may insist on the 6 months validity on passport as most airlines base their information on IATA's TIMATIC database which may not always be very accurate. Why put yourself in the mercy of the airline possibly delaying your return travel due to some wrong info? JUST RENEW IT..

Hogwash.

Your passport is valid until it expires. If it's valid until October 31, 2010, you can enter on October 31, 2010, at a second before midnight without any problems. Same is true for the green card. That's why we have expiration dates on documents, exact expiration dates. I'm telling you this with a 100% certainty.

Even if you were to enter with a just recently expired passport, they would let you in, and even if you were to enter with an expired 10-year green card, they would let you in. In the first case the CBP guy would make you aware of the fact that you need to get a new passport, and in the second case he would ask you to immediately file an I-90.

FYI JustBob , one cannot travel if the passport has a validity of less than 6 months..

Absolutely correct. I worked for an airline for 5 years, and that's what we were going by when checking passports to passengers. I wish I had known then what I know now about immigration :)
