Hello VJ,

I've been reading here for a long time. This site is very helpful. Now I have a question. I filed an I-130 in July and just got a case complete last Thursday. Today, my husband told me about a problem with our sponsor. Our sponsor is his brother, but they had a fight. His brother thinks my husband is trying to sleep with his wife. It's not true, I trust my husband. But now my brother-in-law doesn't want to help us. What can we do? It's too late, right? We already got the case complete and are waiting for knowing the interview date. Do we need to get a sponsor? I want my family to be okay, but now I'm scared that he will write a letter to the NVC saying all of these bad things about my husband. Please help me.

What a horrible set of circumstances! Is there any possiblity for them to reconcile? If not, I'd line up another sponsor right away, just in case. I dont really think the BIL sending a "hate" letter to the NVC will be taken seriously. Their main concern is that you wont become a public charge and that there is a sponsor. Get another one, get the paperwork together to take to the interview. Meanwhile, see if the brothers can come to an understanding. I am very sorry about this. Dont give up just yet, an interview hasnt been assigned yet and you still have time to get things together, whether its the original sponsor cooling off, or a new sponsor all together.
