Ugh - 105 days since our interview and no change to our AP Pending Status. I tried to write a persuasive email to the Embassy to see if maybe they could call the Department of State or give me some kind of other details:

'Hello - I wanted to touch base with you to better understand where we are in the administrative process. Tomorrow will be the 100 day mark from our interview. From the information I can gather, this process normally takes 60-90 days and the NVC/USCIS have issued press releases recently that say 98% of cases are processed within this timeframe.

Is there a way for you to check on the progress and advise the issue with our case? We're making significant concessions on a monthly basis to remain here in Paris and are one month shy of a year since our petition was received. I'd greatly appreciate any help or information you can provide.'

...Guess I'm not a persuasive writer  :

'Dear Ms.______,

We should like to inform you that Mr. ______’s K3 visa application is still pending and under administrative processing. This may take a few months. As soon as we receive a response we shall inform Mr. ________.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Section

American Embassy Paris, France'

Don't feel bad, I tried to write one of those too! I told them how we just had our four year wedding anniversery, how it had been seven months since my husbands interview..etc

I got the same type response that you did. I am beginning to believe that we are nothing more than numbers to the people at the embassy. I often wonder if the CO's ever sees the emails that we write.

I hope you get news soon.

Many times the AP is done in the US and the embassy doesn't have anything to do with it. They have to wait for the response the same way that you do. I know that's not much of a consolation, but it's the truth.

yes that is true, but usually when it is AP that is being done in the US, they call it mandatory AP. I hope that the OP is under mandatory AP because then the embassy has given the ok on their side.

Sometimes AP is the embassy checking documents and verifying the relationship and unfortunately these types of AP can take a very long time.

Yeah, we are under mandatory AP - I saw during our interview our case stamped in big red letters 'Approved' and the CO told me that we're approved but unfortunately it had to go back to Washington for mandatory AP and that it was out of our control. My weekly calls to the Dept of State in Washington bear no fruit, so thought I'd try the personal angle with the embassy.

So sorry to hear about your 7 months of AP - that is terrible!! And it's ridiculous that we all have no recourse to escalate these cases that seem to drag on and on. Even some kind of time estimator would help us all.

Ahhh, yeah, the embassy can nothing about the name checks in Washinton D.C. at all. The only thing you can do is to continue to call DOS...but, at least you know that you are approved. Trust me, that is a lot better than not knowing.

I hope they finish with the name checks soon.

OMG, I hope they work on our case. That is a lot of files to go through. I hope that they truely finish the 2009 files and not put them off to the side.

Any news about your interview?

When I went last oct, I can hardly see any Iraqis! I believe they are all in Syrian now.

I don't think the UN based operation of family re-unit goes to the US embassy in Amman. I could be wrong.

But 500 cases.. That seems way too high number, yet I would love to know where you are getting this info from!

I'm sorry about your AP .I really know how it feels .I will hit a year of being under AP tomorrow .I found out that I'm under name check since Jan 13 ,2010 .And the embassy is waiting for the result from DC .And you have to know if its name check neither you nor the embassy can do anything about it .

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Mohamed

Thank you, and for you too! I've been following your Cairo thread and can't believe that it took the embassy so many months to approve and sent it on. At least you know you're approved too! And they're doing name checks! Can't be long now for you.
