Hi Everyone,

I got back home from Montreal about 2 hours ago and wanted to post my review of my interview experience in Montreal. First and foremost, it was a success!! We got approved and could not be any happier :)

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Jeanne-Mance/Rene Levesque Blvd which was literally a 5 minute walk to the Embassy - very convenient and we got a great deal on the room through Travel Zoo. We got to the embassy at 7 am and was 3rd in line. The doors were opened about 7:40 am (just as we were starting to really get cold!) and the security guard let us in one by one to go through the security check. We were fortunate to secure a very late check out (3 pm!!) so we left anything that was unnecessary at the hotel - i basically just travelled with my portfolio folder with all the required info - no purse etc - and it made going through security really quick. We were given the letter "C" and then taken up in the elevator to the waiting room. It was now 8 am and we were sitting waiting for our letter to be called. About 15 minutes later, we were called to window #9 (if you get this person - she was great!) and she went through my info with me (to make sure that everything was correct i.e. home address) and then went through the checklist of items we were asked to bring and collected them. She then gave me a sheet that i took to the cashier and paid my fee of $131 USD. Once paid, i went directly back to the window and she took my fingerprints. This whole process took approximately 15 minutes. The lady was really nice and explained everything she was doing. She then told me to go back and sit down in the waiting room and we would be called into an interview room shortly. She was not kidding! My name was called about 5 minutes later. Both me and my fiance went to interview room #7 and were told take off our coats and hang them up and place all our documents on the chair in the room. I had a male interviewer and he was also really nice! He opened our file and then had us raise our right hands and swear that all the info provided was the truth. He then confirmed my name and some info in my file. He gave me back my original documents that the first lady had taken from me (along with copies of them) and then he proceeded to ask us questions about how we met. He asked me a question, then he asked my fiance and then me again. He was wanting to make sure our stories were the same. He asked us if we had set a wedding date yet and we told him yes; he asked if i was excited about moving and i told him i was excited, nervous, scared and overwhelmed. He laughed and said that sounded about right. He then said that we seemed like a really great couple and that he wishes us all the best in our future. And then he said Congratulations - you have been successful and the visa has been approved!!! I started to tear up :P He then gave me a sheet that explains what happens next. He told me that since today is MOnday, my visa will be in my hands by the end of the week (i gave them the xpresspost envelope they had asked us to bring).

He wished us the best and we were out of there! All in all, the whole process (after the doors opened) took an hour. We were back at our hotel room by 9 am! That gave us plenty of time to grab breakfast (there is an Eggspectations attached to the hotel) and go back to the room for a long nap - my train left at 6 pm and my fiance's flight left at 8 pm. It was such a positive experience and i can't believe how fast everything happened!!

Now, comes the fun part! I am planning on moving to the US on Sunday April 4th and we are getting married a week later (just a civil ceremony). We will be driving through the Queenston/Lewiston bridge, so i will post a quick review once i am "HOME"!!

Thank you everyone for all your support. I have to say that being a part of this community and privy to all the forums, really helped prepare us for this adventure.

Good luck to all of you who are interviewing this month and those that are still waiting!
