Just received the Notice of Action after submitting I-485 Adjustment of Status and I-765 Employment Authorization Document, for my wife and two children. what can I expect now? The notice states we will be contacted for biometrics , if required, how long will it take before we receive the next notice? What happens at the biometrics appointment? What will happen after the biometrics appointment? When can my family look for and accept employment? Would really love to read about experiences fellow members have had processing these same forms and going through the same things I am.

Really appreciate any and all replies.

It doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong with what you have sent in, it just means they have accepted them to start processing. Hopefully everything is good and you don't get an RFE :D

For Biometrics, you should receive a letter in the next couple weeks to go in, they take your fingerprints and photos to be used on the greencard and EAD. If she has changed her name make sure she brings ID in her new name or your marriage certificate even though it won't ask for it on the bio notice. They need it for proof of name change. After the biometrics you wait till they process your case. You may or may not be transferred to CSC at some point. Usually that will mean you don't get an interview and most of those greencards take about 2-3 months to go through. If you don't get transferred you will at some point receive an interview letter for your local center. The time to get this letter varies depending on the business of that center. At the interview they will ask to see things like joint accounts, insurance in both names, bills in both names etc to prove you are living together and sharing the responsibility as well as photos of your wedding and any other things you may have.

As for working, right now its taking (according to VJ) approximately 62 days to get EAD's. They will not be able to work until they have these, though you can go get their SSN numbers now so that they are ready when the EADs come. If you havent already got them, you can only apply for the SSN's with more than 14 days left on their I-94's.
