Right. You're calling for armed revolution and the overthrow of a democratically elected government. I forgot.

I never called for anything, but at this point all I will say is: Que Sera, Sera.

Our founding documents give the citizenry permission to overthrow it, if need be.

You are much too coy to be a good terrorist.

I'd like you to quote where this is..

If you're referring to the Declaration of Independence then I believe you are wrong. It states that when a government no longer serves in the best interest of the people then said people have the right to dissolve all bonds with said government, not overthrown it. That is in fact what was accomplished with the Revolution.

Now do I believe that if the government fails to serve the people that the people should rise-up and change the government? Sure I do but there is a process for that.

The government of the Crown was overthrown in a revolution, not dissolved by paperwork.

No one has to work within any given set of rules but as soon as you step outside the rules you are risking more than you gain unless the system behind the rules was broken or unworkable and you have a stable new system of rules that everyone will respect. Currently what you seem to want is to throw your toys out of the pram in a fit of temper which just makes you look churlish, not revolutionary.

Churlishness has been in style on the Left since the 1960s. I'm not that stylish.

I'm think that the actual quote involves watering trees with blood. I'm not sure if it's a founder's statement but I do remember it from a Michael Bay movie.

While I do agree that there are problems with revolution at this junction, a right to dissolve all bonds with said government is effectively a right to revolt; you are making a distinction without a difference. If someone else wants to be ruled by that government, that is his or her right. But by dissolving all bonds with said government, you stop paying taxes and following the laws of that government. Insofar as such actions would be responded to with force by the US government, the result would be revolution. Of course, it's a very short revolution unless you are prepared to resist the force of the US government. But unless you think that American citizens have the right to stop paying taxes and following the laws at any point in a peaceful manner, the "right to dissolve all bonds with said government" is a right to revolt. How else can such a right be interpreted?

I'm not advocating a revolution at this point. I'm only pointing out that Sofiyya is right to say that such a right is clearly stated in the Declaration of Independence.
