We filed the AOS and we got a letter saying it was received and we have an appointment for my K-1 wife to get her fingerprints done and photo

the I-94 will expire in about 1 month, we just went to the DMV to get a license, but they said that they can't give out the license because there isn't at least 60 days left on the I-94. We just got the SS card a couple of days ago, so we couldn't do it sooner.

They said we need an I-94 extension to get the license.

How do we do that, or will they give us a paper on fingerprint day saying that she is automatically extended because of the pending Adjustment of Status.

You're not going to get an extension of the I-94. Had you had 60-days remaining on the I-94 (in most states) the DL would have only been issued for the duration of the I-94 any way.

You will have to check your state's requirements but you may be able to obtain a DL once the EAD is issued - some states may require an actual PR/Green Card. That's about all you can do.

I went to DMV too with an expired 1-94 but we just sent off the AOS last Friday. The DMV lady said they cannot issue me a state ID unless at least I provide a notice of receipt from the USCIS stating that I'm filing for AOS and it's currently on the process. No need to wait for my greencard. So, I'm just waiting for the letter of receipt then go back to DMV . Should arrive anytime next week, hopefully.

Reunited for good and it feels so good!

We were the same way, even just a state id card they expire it when the i-94 expires which is totally pointless. So we're waiting till he gets his actual card(s) in his hands.....aargh.
