Translation of Thai birth certificate

Hello, for completing Form I-485, it says that "any document containing foreign language submitted to USCIS shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English." My fiancee and soon-to-be wife is certainly qualified to translate her own birth certificate. Is this permitted? If not, who should conduct the translation?

She can do it herself. It is permitted and there in no need to pay someone to do it. My wife translated her own birth certificate and her daughter's as well. Just need to attach a short letter that says she is competent and certifies the translation to be true and accurate. Sign the letter as well. I think our letter was like two sentences long with the date and a signature.

I was looking for a local translator and they are all asking for $100+ just to translate a simple birth certificate. I'm going to translate it myself and then have the above statement notarized.
