Not everyone. Your tax dollars pay for the elite health care and pensions of the same legislators who just jubilantly voted in health care mediocity in for their constituants. They refuse the "historic" reform they want for you, because they enjoy somthing far better at your expense. You're so lucky they work so hard for you!

Local governments make a choice to have those things actually. There is no national police/fire/rescue service....

Also property and mostly city sales taxes pay for those things, which is a lot different than paying out of your regular income. You make the ultimate choice to contribute to them in the community in which you live when you're shopping around and paying those sales taxes.
