You should have one then already. You bought a war you didn't want. You buy health insurance for your old age that you don't want - and that may possibly never get to utilize. Hell, maybe you even bought a space program that you don't want. You get to buy all kinds of stuff that you don't want and yet, you've done it for as long as you pay taxes. What's all this hysteria about all of a sudden? You're gonna pop a valve if you're not careful. But fortunately, after today's historic vote, you'll have health insurance that must cover your resulting medical bills. :hehe:

That's what I have to say to the naysayers.

It is, if you have a particular point of view. One that finds it better that high quality of care is only available to those who can afford it. These people don't find a problem with health care being available to fewer and fewer people, it makes it more exclusive.

The other point of view is to make the system equally mediocre for everyone... like the Canadian system or the UK's NHS.

Maybe if we actually spent as much as them, but considering how much we do spend on healthcare, we have to be spending the money on something other than care, like buying porches and private jets... oh wait.

But even for those people with money, borders are not a problem. Where else are you going to get stem cell vanity treatments?

Fine with me, I'd rather have my NHS than this crappy system.

I hear there are airplanes that can take care of that for you.

I don't know what you're talking about. The US system is WAAAY better than the NHS.

If you're too broke to pay for it, that's your problem, don't blame the system for your

own shortcomings.

No one was denied coverage. You can purchase health care on your own just fine.

If you had cancer, you should be treated regardless of whether you can pay or not. If calling health care a right doesn't sound legit, calling it a privilege to those who can afford it sounds putrid.

That's why we have insurance.

Why should I be treated if I can't afford it and didn't purchase insurance?

If your house burns down and you didn't have homeowners insurance, do you demand

that the government buy you a new house?
