I am applying IR5 visa for my mother, choosing the electronic processing (Guanzhou consulate). I have a couple questions for the supplemental documents of DS-230:

1. Petitioner's documents (including birth certificate , marriage certificate) have to be original or certified copy. How to get certified copy?

2. On the NVC website, the guideline mention that all beneficiary's documents if not in english, need to be certified translated into English. Somehow when I call NVC, one representative told me that if my mom get interview at Guanzhou China, all these documents don't need to be translated, in Chinese be ok. Is that true? anybody with experience?

Thanks ahead.

1. a chinese notarial office attached to the big PSB in her hukuo city can issue the right document.

2. The website is right, the NVC Human is wrong.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

pssssssssssssst - don't forget that ugly GUZ P3 Supplemental form. It's UGLY.

Link is in the wiki page at http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

It's supposed to go in with the DS-230, but if you've not sent it with the DS-230 set, you can send it seperately.

Three people have been dinged with an RFE in the last 45 days for NOT having this document submitted to NVC, at NVC.

Good Luck !

Thank you, Darnell.

Now I do believe the documents need to be translated into English. I also know that the bigger city can issue the BC with English version attached. But since my mom already got the BC and other documents from the local notary office ( from my home town which can only give Chinese version), so I would like to find out if I can do translation for her. I searched this website and seems like I can find anybody to translate as long as he is fluent on both languages and then get notarized at bank or in front of some notary public. So I will try that way. But I am not sure if GuangZhou office will be ok with it. I am worried that if my mom go there for interview and then they tell her the translation is not good. They won't give the interview date until they think all required documents complete, right?

This website is so great, I should have read it before I started the application.

ya, technically ANYONE can do the translation, as long as the proper attestation statement is used.

But GUZ is used to the whitebooks, alas. She doesn't need to get BC in other city, she needs TRANSLATION of BC from other, bigger city. Maybe y'all will figure this out, soonish.

Good Luck !
