I'm trying to sort out what I can provide as proof right now, fingers crossed that I can prove that 5 years in the U.S:

1) Driver License

2) Visa application copy with detail on my residences for past 5 years

3) Letter of Employment

4) Passport

5) Tax Transcripts FY's 2005-2008

Very frustrating, this is the last portion of stuff we need before the move.

Well all of your documentation looks good, you have to prove that the:

U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the USA for periods totaling five years prior to the child's birth, at least two of which where after their 14th birthday

Does your documentation prove that?

They really do prefer school transcripts.. is there any way you can contact your high school board and get copies sent to you? I got my hubbies K-12 in a week. One look at that and the consular officer was like "well, thats 5 years taken care of for sure!"

Appt is Friday, and my Univ won't send anything electronically. I found some stuff on my work's HR website that might help..

Do you have any W2's attached to your tax return? It was the W2's that they were interested in, not the tax returns themselves. At first I provided one W2 for each year, but if I had more than one from a year, they wanted as many as I had with me. Could you get any letters from previous employers? That was something they suggested would have been a help. I also had a mailed statement from the Social security dept stating what my income had been over the course of many years. Although they couldn't use the statement alone, they used it to match up the W2's. Hope that helps.

I'm not anywhere near my residence, I'm still in Canada so didn't bring every doc I own with me. Wish I had brought all of those W-2s! Is it terribly important to have extensive documentation on my Canadian wife's time in the US? She's back and forth to the states quite a bit due to living on the border.

Starting to contemplate taking a weekend trip back to Dallas just to get documents and then rescheduling the CRBA.

It shouldn't matter at all how often your wife, as the Canadian, has been in the U.S.

I don't know how far from the consulate you are, but you may want to keep the appointment anyway - who knows, they may just accept what you have, if not at least you know what you will need.

Might save you a trip.

I'd definately keep the appointment. As trailmix says, they may accept what you have and then you're good to go. The person processing our documentation says it's not uncommon to enter the information received that day and put it in a "pending" status until whatever else they still need comes in. Perhaps it being in a "pending" status would get it handled faster in the future that having to completely reschedule your appt later. Not sure what your travel expenses are though to get to the consulate.

Which consulte are you going through? I did mine in Vancouver, I emailed them and made sure my documents are correct, someone even called me to go through it with me before I went!! And even if you have a pending, when you get back to where u can get your W-2's you can just mail them in overnight. Then email them to let them know you have mailed it, and theyll start working on it. Thats what I did (turns out vital statistics put a wrong date on my daughters long form bc), and it MAYBE cost me 4/5 days on getting it back. Go to the interview. It not like the immigration offices where they are soooo far behind.

I will keep the appointment, appreciate the encouragement! I found a few extra things while digging through my old tax submissions. Found my full 1040s for the following years:

FY2004

FY2006-2009

I have documentation from my employer (printed from our HR system) that verifies the following:

1) I've been an employee based in the US since 6/6/2005

2) I left University with a 4 yr degree as of 5/15/2005

3) Employment Letter I used for the AOS

I would definitely give the consulate a call if I weren't about to leave on a business trip for two days. Please forgive my nervousness here, the sleepless nights with the newborn are taking a toll I think.

AAAWWWW!!! I miss that newborn phase.... Take it easy....CRBA's are actually pretty easy, sounds to me like you have lots of evidence, and if you dont have enough, its not a huge panic, they give you something like 90 days to get them any extra info you need to supply..

Get some zeee's and have a safe trip!

Went in today, looks like I have to get those transcripts. Looks like I'll be able to get these within a week or two. The Toronto Consulate experience was better than Montreal for sure. We were there at 10:05 for a 10:30am appointment, and I believe we were back out at 11:30am.
