The Bush tax cuts of 01 and 03 did far more "damage" to this country than this bill will ever do.

Wrong.

and you'll feel that pinch at the end of this year when they expire.

The revenue grew after the tax cuts.

The problem in revenue is when the economy collapsed.

Under the growing economy though, the tax cuts made sense and made the government more money.

Thank you.

Which was passed under Reconciliation by one vote (####### Cheney's) and cost the US economy $1.9trillion, TWICE as much as the current health care bill.

Granted, the estimates often turn out to be less than accurate. That said, I rather start out with a bill that is estimated to reduce the deficit - such as the one that will pass within the next days - than one that is estimated to blow the deficit up beyond recognition - such as Medicare part D and both of the Bush tax cuts which the GOP passed using all kinds of procedural tricks. ;)

How so? The CBO says otherwise. Doing nothing is what will certainly bankrupt the country.

What, reducing the deficit by $100 billion over the next 10 years? In other

words, reducing the projected cumulative deficit from $9.8 trillion to

$9.7 trillion?

Come on man, you can't be that naive. The savings amounts to at best a

rounding error given the tens of trillions of dollars we're going to spend

over that period.

Of course, when Bush proposed his $1.6 trillion tax cuts, he relied on a CBO projection

of a $5.6 trillion budget surplus... but hey, CBO is never wrong.

Did, past tense. Clearly, we need a new bill to do more damage.

Nobody is saying that the CBO is never wrong - more often than not, they are. Especially when they make far-out projections. That said, the CBO was clear on the fiscal impact of the Bush tax cut packages. 1.35 trillion for the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 and another 350 billion for the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003. Add to that the 400 billion cost estimate of Medicare Part D and you have the GOP voting away - partially in this evil reconciliation procedure - some 2.1 trillion dollars in just two years.
