Affidavit of Support Question

Hey guys,

I have a question regarding the affidavit of support and more importantly the way I can address my problem. I'm sure it has been discussed before, but I did not find anything in the search function. I just recently graduated, and did not start making much income until October of last year, needless to say, when I filed my income tax my income was not above the 125% poverty guideline, I was just shy of it, but it is because I only worked for a few months last tax period. Since this year started I have already gone above the poverty guideline, but my income tax will not show this. Now, I have all the pay stubs and can get plenty of information from my company stating how much I am going to make a year and so forth, but I am confused as to what I should do for the interview, get a co-sponsor? Will the consul be okay with me providing evidence that I will be making much more now, or should I do both, provide plenty of evidence, and a co-sponsor just in case. I hope some of you experts can guide me on this subject.

Thanks in advance!

Pablo.

Perhaps you've looked at the I-134 and noticed the income question asks for "current income". So, state and document your current income in addition to providing at least the most recent tax return for good measure. These issues are discussed quite often in the US Embassy and Consulate forum as they relate to the Consulate stage of the process.

CURRENT GROSS income is what you make now. If your salary is $60,000 per year and you started the job last week your CURRENT income is $60,000 per year. The correct answer to the question is "$60,000" Attach documentation to that effect and you are good to go. Attach last years tax return, but what you made last year is not important if you are currently employed and can show current income above the guidelines.
