Giving up GC after many years living abroad

Hi, I got my US GC many years ago when I was working in US. However, due to family commitment I have to move back to my home country few years after I got my GC. In the beginning I made frequent trips back to US using my GC and so far I was able to convince the immigration officer to allow my entry to US. Some times the officer never asked anything at all. In recent years, I have not travelled to US at all. Now I got my new job in my home country which require me to travel to US again for business purpose. I have no intention or plan to move back to US for now since my current job pays well and live is good in my home country. Furthermore, my wife and kids are US citizen but are leaving with me in my home country now. I am thinking about abandoning my GC voluntarily and enter into US using the visitor or business visa. My questions are:

1) do you think the US embassy will give me any problem or questioned me if I abandon my GC now after so many years staying abroad?

2) will abandoning my GC now affect my business visa application?

3) will I be able to apply for PR again in the far future through my wife?

Help!

1. No

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Hi Bobby+Umit,

Thanks for the short answers.

Are these answers precise and base on expert experience?

Just want to get some reassurance before making my final decision.

I also heard that there could be some complication when applying business visa later. For example, the officer may ask about tax questions during interview and will not approve the visa until further investigation is done. Therfore, the visa approval may take longer than usual.

Is this true?
