The voting up/down post thing - it's pretty silly in my opinion - so silly in fact that I don't even have an opinion on it really.

As far as the internetz goes - when people say "it's the internet, can't take anything seriously" - that generally means that is what THEY think - so definately, entitled to their opinion.

While things written here or elsewhere may not be important to you, they may be important to someone else. If someone insults your Mother here, it may just roll off your back and you will be rotfl about it - for some people it affects them differently.

I suppose it's just a point of view. Perhaps if one of your work colleagues insulted your Mother you wouldn't care either, maybe you are just one of those people that only cares what you and your immediate family have to say - and that's ok.

That doesn't give anyone carte blanche to dismiss others feelings though and basically call them .... stupid. But I suppose that is a wholeee other thread.
