I did not realize there were about 4 million people in the U.S. in 1790. That's a lot of people already.

There was a trend to do just that in the 2000 Census as well. Nate Silver (liberal blogger and all-round data geek) did some fascinating analysis of the patterns of these responses and their correlation with Democratic primary contests in 2008.

It's not about racial divide. To get money for ESL classes, Jobs Training program, etc...Some places has a large portion of Hispanics or Spanish speakers than others. If they are not counted. It'll take years to get a grant to open a ESL school or even federal loans for them open a Jobs Training Program center.

When it's time the US has equal population of this race or that race, there won't be a need to ask those questions.

Tax dollars don't need to be paying for "ESL" schools. Sorry, but that almost screams illegal in so many ways right there. It's not our job to help you learn English, that's your own damn job, especially if you know what you're getting into coming here the legal way.....
