First off I'd like to again apologize, I am still having the same problem I have been, the search is not working for me. All I get is a forum list as my result. This has been going on a couple days now.

Okay so, my fiance is having his interview in Vancouver I am going to guess late may or early june. We actually have the money now, all is good.

Last minute fears are about if I have sent enough documentation. I have read here that I need to send my marriage certificate (this was a K1 thread)? I didn't see that on the checklist, just the divorce decree. I can go ahead and send it... but ?

Also, he needs my birth certificate for the interview? I was under the impression he just needed his long form. I may have already sent this to him, I'm waiting on an answer back, but if he doesn't have it, I need to get it ordered asap since I don't want to send my genuine original. >.<

Other than that, my main worries are just that we are good on the affidavit of support.

I sent employer letter, 3 years of tax transcripts, 5 internet printed paycheck stubs.

My mom and co sponsor sent employer letter, 3 years of tax transcripts, and either 3 or 5 internet printed paycheck stubs, plus printed copies of 3 years of W2s.

She makes a few thousand above the poverty guidelines for the 3 of us. We only listed her income on the form... since that is what we are going by. Could anyone reassure me that this should be okay in Vancouver?

It's so close now. The consulate emailed and said they have sent out packet 3, and gave me the download link. I can't believe we are this close to the end of the journey. And it's so stressful that I can't book things for the wedding (small as it will be!) since this still isn't a for sure.

Oh, one last thing. Could anyone advise the best way to send money ($1k US) to Canada from the US? I don't want to put it in the mail. I've looked at western union and that is a $60 charge. Yikes. Does anyone know of a less expensive alternative? I want it to get there sometime in the next week.

Thank you for wading through this. I look forward to when this is over and I can start answering threads helping other folks as they begin this journey and I have some clue what I'm talking about. :)

Hi Garnet,

To send money try these links. www.xoom.com or www.remithome.com. I have used them both to send money to the philippines. it is safe and fast.

We've had really good experience with xetrade.com (or 'Custom House'). But I think you need to take some time to set up an account, they need to make sure you're not using it for money laundering.

You don't want to just send a cheque?

EH? Your not married now, are you? If your doing the K-1, you better not be, since it's a Fiance(e) visa. (But I think your talking about a previous marriage - so no need to send that, just the divorce decree)

If your sending tax transcripts, you will not need the W-2's. Indeed, you may get an RFE, W-2's are useless without the corrosponding 1040's.

Can you give more info - your Mom is the only co-sponsor? or do you have two?

You can send copies of your BC if you need to.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I interviewed in Vancouver, however it was several years ago. I had to bring a copy of my marriage certificate and divorce certificate and my understanding was that it was in regards to name changes for women. I'm not positive that's the reason, but over the years, sometimes it's asked for, other times not. If you're not going to be interviewing until May or June, then you'd have time to get a copy.

I too brought a copy of my now husband's BC, but I don't believe you need it.

If you have a co-sponsor, you BOTH have to fill out forms. Even if you don't make enough money.

I use customhouse to send money back and forth to Canada, but as pointed out, you need to set up an account, and even then, while there is no fee if you do an electronic transfer, it sometimes takes 5-7 business days. You might just be better to send a cheque or money order. Oft times in Canada, unless he has a good relationship with the bank, he's going to have a hold put on a cheque from a U.S. drawn account anyway, so you might just want to set up a CustomHouse account. It's something you should have him look into anyway so that he can transfer money across the border even after he's moved.

Looks like everyone has handled your questions...I wanted to bring-up something else since you seem to have some money concerns. Are you aware that the next step in the process (after you get married) is AOS (adjustment of status) and that too will be about $1000? I'm not trying to be negative and add stress to your already overloaded mind, I just see more then a few folks who are shocked at the AOS sticker price so soon after coming through the K1 and the wedding expenses. Everything can be planned for though and you have plenty of time.

$1010.00 actually :) (as long as no other expenses occur)

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have the $1010 set and ready to go, sitting in my savings account. The money was a concern until yesterday when I received a very generous and unexpected half gift half loan from my uncle. We are good to go with the expenses of the visa and AOS.

Yes, lol, I am divorced. I guess I can send the marriage certificate? I kept my maiden name the first go round, but if they ask for it, better they have it! I of course sent my divorce decree in with the I129F, and my fiance has a copy as well.

"If your sending tax transcripts, you will not need the W-2's. Indeed, you may get an RFE, W-2's are useless without the corrosponding 1040's."

^ confused me. Are the tax transcripts not enough? In another thread they said, add the W2s to the tax transcripts, and you're good to go.

I did all the affidavit of support paperwork that my mother (the only co-sponsor) did too. We both filled out the form, both got employer letters, both sent 3 years of tax transcripts, both sent between 3 and 5 paycheck stubs, and she sent 3 years of W2s.

I hardly make any money, but my mother makes around 8k over what she needs to (maybe it's 6k, one of the two) to beat the 125% guidelines for 3 people. She has no other dependents.

Thank you for the money sending links. It's nice to hear that you guys have used them with success.

Transcripts are enough. But if you just send in w-2's without the 1040's, then that may be a problem. Not likely at the embassy level if you have the transcripts, but more for when you send in the 864 - the person checking in the docs may just see the W-2's, no 1040's and reject the application.

Definitely have your previous marriage certificate handy. Did you not send it along with the original petition? Personally, I don't understand the point of showing your marriage certificate if you have a divorce certificate, but I keep reading that you should have it anyway.

But we are talking about the I-134 here, which is being hand delivered to the Vancouver consulate, not the I-864, so let's not confuse the two.

I don't know why anyone suggests sending the W2s though, the transcript is sufficient without them. The only time you would send the W2s as well is if the cosponsor filed a joint return with someone else, then it is used to determine their individual income, so garnet, that may be what you were reading.

I know you said the interview is in vancouver but I had mine in august 2009 in montreal and the papers they sent me said I needed both, when I got there they only asked for his divorce papers. But Bring both just incase anyway is what I would do, you never can know really what they will ask for if its on the list or not. I brought a lot of extra things as a just incase.

Just to keep in mind--the process does differ a bit between Montreal and Vancouver--so ensure ur reading the Vancouver ones!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

re: the money.... be sure your boss isn't going to surprisingly fire you, thus forcing you, for financial reasons obv, to use the savings for living and household establishing expenses instead.
