I have read the guides on being on an f-1 student visa and saw about the i-765 requesting work authorization. My question is I know I'm not allowed to work on an f- 1 student visa, so while my aos is sent off along with my i-765 I will still be in status of my student visa. Will this be classed as a violation?

As immediate relatives or upon filing AOS, we F-1 are no longer in student "status" which is why we can file form I-765 for work authorization, which if we were still in status while we filed, would still put us out of status.

What I am saying is once we file AOS we are no longer under F-1 requirements for enrollment etc... We can work as soon as we get the I-765 approval with SSN :blush:

Naturalization (5 months 2 days or 155 days)

06/20/13 - Hardcopy NOAs Received

06/27/12 - Successful Walk-in Biometrics in Dover DE

07/05/13 - Interview letter sent/In-line notification

Would not be in violation though (as long as you didnt plan on coming on F-1 to get married) Would simply be a change of status or adjustment applicant

okay thanks girl really helps. I dont yet have a social though. I have heard that some people have to have a social when getting married? some states vary. kind of worries me though. we plan to get married next year, and as I am in f-1 status right now obviously I cannot apply for a SSN. Do they give you a social security number with your work authorization? or is that something separate you have to do? Also what do I do if my state requires social for marriage? :/

You can usually obtain you SSN with the EAD.

08.2006: Entered with a B-2 visa.

07.06.07: Civil Wedding

07.17.2008 AOS approved with interview. It took 367 Days!

11.08.08: Big family wedding

09.18.09-10.03.09: First trip to France with Hubby

I-751

04.19.10: Package sent to Vermont

04.21.10: Delivered in Vermont

04.22.10: NOA date

04.23.10: Check cashed

05.17.10: Received biometrics appointment letter

06.07.10: Biometrics Appointment

06.26.10: Touched

07.07.10: Card Production Ordered!

07.17.10: Card in the mail :) Done until citizenship
