Hi everyone:)

Just wondering if anyone can help me here ...

I sent in all my original documents with the G325 so, am I expected to just bring photocopies of those documents? I've also heard that I need to have a copy of the AOS. Problem is that for some stupid reason we didn't make any copies! Don't they already have that info in front of them?

Oh, and do I need to bring an Express Post envelope? Why doesn't the consulate state those things ahead of time? LOL

Thanks!

Bring copies of everything you gave original copies to NVC. If you file electronically, you would be bringing all your original documents to your embassy. If you are filing via regular mail, then the originals go to NVC and you bring copies. NVC should be forwarding all your original copies and file to Montreal. You can ask for them back.

Also yes get the biggest Express Post you can get and prepay for signature required etc. I believe you write your own address on it but maybe don't quite quote me on that aspect of it and you can do it at the embassy.

Good luck.

After I posted this I realized you are filing for a K3....I assume it may follow the same lines but my post was in response to someone filing a CR 1 etc. So I hope I haven't thrown you off track. I don't know too much about the K 3 process.

Sorry....

Well you still have a little bit of a waiting game before you need to worry about the express post envelope.

At your interview you'll receive all your originals back that you mailed in. Bring in photocopies and any other originals. I felt it was better safe to be sorry. They didn't ask me for anything extra, but did ask a friend for hers. So better to be prepared if anything.

Express post envelope - once you get officially approved, they'll mail you a sheet on what to bring, how many passport pictures, where to go, what size envelope, etc. Also look at the guides here on visa journey. That's what made it easiest for me! :)

Yes, are you actually filing for the K3 or a CR1/IR1?

As an aside - zenaxe, taking photocopies to the interview in Montreal, for a CR1/IR1 is not mandatory, it is optional. Granted it is a good idea but the person should have already sent a photocopy to NVC.

Thank you for the replies!

I realize it has now turned into a CR1/IR1 - or has it? We originally filed for a K3. Funny, all correspondence from NVC never stated what category of Visa it was in except that it was an Immigrant Visa. I do believe the process is the same however, i noticed some people had suggested that they brought originals to their appointment which is what has thrown me off:)

My appointment letter says (from what I can tell with all of the Y's, F's and O's) that any additional documentation isn't needed.

When I filed the DS230 I sent in all originals as it was stated to do so. I will bring the photocopies I made but, what should I do about the AOS? I don't have a copy of that at all!

Oh, and does anyone suggest that I bring a copy of all the forms I filled out from the start? I-130, etc.?
