Hello Everyone,

All of you have been very helpful in my journey relating to filling a Fiance visa. However I have a query relating to form I-134 Affidavit of Support form. During the event where I was filling and filed the I-129F petition for my Fiance, I was working and had a job. Now my situation has changed, I do not have a job, and I am in the process of looking for a job. Saying that my I-129F petition has been approved, I received NOA2 in the mail 2 days back.

I know that as part of filling out form I-134, I need to show proof that I was working, right now I am not. However I have been able to save good amount of money in the bank. Can I send my Fiance copies of my checking statements? Would that help?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank You,

Nishi

P.S. My Fiance is in India.

I would go ahead and get a co-sponsor in place that can provide proof of current employment. They would fill out the same form and provide the same documents that you would. The one thing you don't want to happen is him get to the interview and approve pending the I-134 and then you all have to wait even longer for them to receive the information to approve the visa. It is better to be safe than sorry.

your past years' income tax returns that you did have a job and a bank statement or certification showing how much you have and how long you've been a customer are very important proof of finacial status but you definitely will be on the safe side if you get a co-sponsor. it assures the govt that somebody will be able to provide for your beneficiary, and which if they don't see may become a basis for delay and even denial

Unfortunately with the I-134, providing evidence that you had a job is not going to cut it, they want a letter from your employer showing your employed, type of employment, and salary.

(that is, if you do not have the assets needed to use the "asset" resource)

Co-sponsor in this case is needed imho.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
