AR/AP processing times in EGYPT

Do K1s have more AR/AP waiting time than K3 or is it the same? Do you think it matters whether the husband and wife have the same religion? That sucks if they do extra checks because of more "religious" sounding names. I guess I'm screwed because my husband is a Mohamed.

I'm not sure about the K1/K3 difference, but my husband and I share a faith and we still were on AP/AR. Jean also is the same religion as husband and has been on AP/AR forever.

Religious differences would be a *red flag kind of situation* in which the validity of the relationship would be reviewed, whereas AR/AP is standard security clearance for the beneficiary only.

edited to add : I would find it very hgard to believe that a consul would scrutinize "religious sounding names" any more than another name. What if one gets through - oops! Its a standard procedure. Whis is non-standard is the differences in time it takes to clear.

Before I started this headache over a year ago I was told by many people that the K-1 was the faster route. So much for that tid-bit of information. ^_^

I think when someone says a K-1 is faster they generally mean in terms of the USCIS process. No one can tell how long security checks are going to last and I don't think that whether you are married or not changes anything at the AP/AR level as it seems to be security checks on the beneficiary and has nothing to do with the petitioner or their relationship. It jut depends on what the Consulate wants... and unfortunately it seems that Cairo wants and likes their security checks.

Good luck to you girls I hope you hear something soon.

Sarah
