Thanks Inky - I can't wait to hear from him to see what they say when he calls. Of course he has been out working for the last 24hrs so I haven't been able to talk to him since we started all this earlier that day haha. Annoyances of deployment huh?

We were hoping we wouldn't have to decide right away where we wanted to live. He is done in the forces in August 2011. We were thinking of moving back to Canada then because he wants to do some schooling and I'll have a better chance at getting a job, plus just the overall economy of it all. Plus just the goegraphy of Ottawa to the rest of our out of town family and friends is great. Guess we'll be deciding soon!

I am going to look into that other Visa too and hopefully he'll be back in commo soon and we can settle this.

I'll keep y'all posted!

If you guys stay in america when his contract is up and you are married, BOTH of you can use his GI bill for education thats a free 80grand... however it does not work if you want to go to canada for school. It only works for schools in the USA. Im not sure I would be willing to give up free education lol specially with the costs these days...

And yes deployments suck, my husband deployed 2 weeks after we got married and he was gone for quite a long time... he made it back on christmas. :star:

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

He is going to be going to school when he is done. We talked about him going to school in Ottawa (GI bill approves the U of O) and I would work. The other plan was to do it in the states. Looks like that'll be the better plan.

Yes deployment sucks. We have both been deployed since Oct. So glad it's coming to an end, and since he is in Iraq he will be home earlier than expected, not longer after me. I'll just have time to unpack and move all his stuff back to NY! We were going to get married before and then do this process afterwards but I didn't want our first year of marriage apart haha.

I live on a coalition base in the middle east - lot's of Brits here! (to those who mentioned it above).

haha really? Not nearly as many Canadians out there than US though. They all more or less cover different areas ad duties though. It depends. We have 4 US here, but never see them. I have no idea what they do but next time one is working guard I will make sure to ask haha.
