Hi Folks,

Check my status this morning and I have been 'RFEd". But reading from this blog, it usually turns out to be the biometrics.Should I therefore lose sleep over this? I hope the following is familiar.

"On March 17, 2010, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

A request for evidence is made when an application/petition is lacking required documentation/evidence (initial evidence) or the officer needs more documentation/evidence (additional evidence) to determine an applicant's eligibility for the benefit sought. We may send you a request for evidence at any stage of our review. The request will indicate what evidence or information is needed for us to fully evaluate your application or petition. The notice will explain where to send the evidence and will give the deadline for your response. Your application or petition will be held in suspense during that time. If you receive a request for evidence and have questions about what you need to submit, you may call our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283."

Your inputs are always welcome.

I would not consider RFE's "dreaded" - they are opportunities to correct any error and continue the process.

They could of just denied the application because you made a mistake and made you start over - so it could be worse than it is...

I suppose you will have to wait for the actual RFE to see what they want...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Isn't RFE in N400 actually the fingerprint notice? That's what others reported here...

I believe you are correct. I think previously people have been posting the same online update and they only receive the biometrics letter...

We got the RFE email a couple of days before receiving the biometrics letter, so I think that's what the RFE email is about. Never received an RFE letter. Happened to several others here, it seems. But we made an infopass appointment for the same day as the biometrics appointment so we can double check then, since we'll be there anyway.

I got a letter yesterday from USCIS re: my Biometrics schedule. When I checked my online status, the info you got was the same exact thing as mine. Maybe the additional evidence is my fingerprints. It says on the letter "To process your application, USCIS must take your fingerprints and have them cleared by the FBI". Check your mailbox, maybe you have a letter for you biometrics appointment.

Yes, the RFE is for fingerprints. My status still says the same thing from Nov 2nd about the RFE. It will stay this way until you get the interview letter. You will make yourself crazy if you panic about the RFE. It is simply a biometrics notification although to me a flaw in the system. It is what it is.

Learned with my wifes' N-400 to ignore those e-mails and case status. Stepdaughter received her biometrics in the mail, but took much longer than my wifes' notice. Stepdaughter also received a letter from Missouri about bringing in her state photo ID or drivers' license to her interview. That was not required evidence when we applied. Who knows, just check out postal mailbox and worry about the weather instead. Not that it would do any good.
