Hi,

I'm doing the DCF process in Colombia. I have the first appointment to bring the I-130 and G-325 forms next Tuesday to Bogota. The man on the phone also said that I need to bring DS-230, one photo, and both of our passports.

Here is the problem. My wife made a public declaration to change her last name to my last name, and we can get her a new passport about a week from now that has her new name. We have been trying for a while but the national registry shut down for elections and has been giving us bad dates of when they can complete the process to give her a new ID that she can take to get a new passport. She already has a passport that has her unmarried name, and we won't be able to get her a new passport with her married name until after the date of the first appointment.

We have been filling all the forms out with the her married name, but her passport has her old name. By the time they send an interview invitation, she will have a different passport with her new married name. We absolutely want her visa to have her married name.

Should we call to postpone the first appointment so we can get her new passport with her married name, or does it not matter that her current passport has her old name? It is absolutely essential that we ultimately receive the visa with her married name.

Thanks in advance
