Can we slow the process down? >.<

I have nothing substantial to contribute, I just wanted to empathize with the original poster! Some couples cannot wait and are so anxious but I am like you, I am trying to slow the process down. Our NOA2 was approved in 34 days, and in less than 3 months, our application was sent to the foreign embassy. I am writing a dissertation and I was hoping to be finished before my fiance arrived! If he arrives now, I will become so distracted that I'll never finish; but of course I cannot tell this to him.

But I've learned some valuable tips reading all of these posts, and I'll gently encourage him not to be hasty with the medical exam. He wants to come up to the US yesterday, but now I've learned from you all what to do. Thanks!!

Michelle

I didn't have time to read all of the posts, so forgive me if someone has already mentioned this. But in my opinion, there's no need to try to slow it down by returning the packet later. Just get your paperwork done and get the interview over with. Once the K1 visa is approved, it is valid for 6 months....meaning, your fiance can wait for a couple of months before coming to the U.S.

Thank you all for your answers. To my absolute amazement, we no longer need to slow it down. I got a jaw dropping offer from my one and only uncle... half gift, half loan, and it is enough to cover the visa and it's expenses, and the AOS. My fiance and I have enough saved up for his flight to move here, and for things wedding like the marriage license, minister fee, etc. I'm just in shock, and so grateful. There was just no way in a million years I saw this coming, I truly thought we were at the end of our road and would have to end the Visa process.

Thanks again everyone.

Maybe I'm missing something here...

I just checked out similar timelines for Vancouver, and couples who received their NOA2 in January are having interviews scheduled for April.

You received your NOA2 early in March, which means possibly early July for the interview.

So... if I was aiming for a July 22nd wedding date, I'd be worrying about speeding UP the process!

I'll all work out in the end, don't worry.

Congratulations! That is wonderful! The gift your uncle is providing from his heart will long outlast the value of the money and it will be something you can remember from him always

Since finances are an issue at this step of your process, I'd also point out that once you are approved, and have those 6 months to enter the US and 90 days to get married, you must take into consideration the AOS fees that come right after marriage, which are a little over US$ 1.000 so prepare for that as well.

more like $1365 or so
