I've heard mixed opinions on this, but I agree with Scott. At best, I don't think sending money is going to impress the CO's. At worst, they may suspect you're being played for money. Sending cash to your fiancee in Vietnam is not a huge red flag like it would be in a former Soviet Union country (it's a well known scam system there), but I've never heard of it helping anyone's K1 case in HCM.

BTW, most of us sent money to our fiancees in Vietnam. Most girls won't directly ask for it, but they're thrilled to get a "gift". It also lets them show off a little to their friends, now that they've got an American fiance. whistling.gif

I agree with Jim and Scott, sending money will not impress anyone, and if it is lots of money then it could be looked at badly, unless it was for a deposit for where your engagement party was going to be held or for deposits on hotel rooms, these things are natural to send money ahead for. As Jim said, most of the girls will not ask for money, and with Binh, it was even worse, she would not let me send it to her, it took over a month for me to talk her into taking the money for the deposit on our Dam Hoi, she just wanted to pay and then me pay her back, their pride is stubborn at times, but that is why we love themblush.gif

Keep in mind that a huge change in the standard of living is obvious to everyone around them... yes having a Fiance that is a USC is a big deal, but the bigger deal is the attention that it may bring from the wrong people. They tried to break into Thuys apartment one night when she was there and didnt want anyone bothering her so she made it look like she was away... The new clothes, new motorbike and rumors of a USC fiance were the first thing that came to everyones mind as to why she was the target... both were caught and went to jail... a really close call though...
