NOA2 and Wait for NVC approval?

I'm confused and I need your help. I apply I-130/CR-1 Spouse Visa through an Immigration Lawyer. I received my NOA2 another day and prepared to send in my Affidavit of Support package to my lawyer so she can submit it to the NVC. But, she told me to hold on and don't send anything to her yet, wait until she receives an approval notice from NVC. What is she talking about do you know? I thought NVC needs the Affidavit of Support and the fees before it approves the visa.

Please help.

Thanks

I'd stop a moment, and think a bit.

whilst yer thinking -

suggest you OPT IN for NVC electronic processing - see

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

and tell yer attorney to wait a bit, before he/she does anything else.

YOU can run the show at NVC, for now (and you should, really).

Good Luck !

NOA-2 is PETITION approval, not visa approval.

You've some more processing to do AT NVC.

Visa Approval occurs on Interview Day, in Guangzhou, at the IV Unit.

re: attorney holding things up - good lord. YOU can call NVC, start asking questions on status.

There's a good section here on shortcuts for NVC processing -

see http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Shortcuts and review the ones that are pertinent to yer casefile.

FWIW - if the attorney waits on NVC -

then this casefile will be flipped into 'purely postal' mode - and that will suck - take about 9 months to get through NVC.

You can get through NVC within a month if you, yes, YOU, are pro-active.

Also - is new NVC Electronic Processing Program for China-bound petitions -

and YOU QUALIFY to use it - will shave off 60 to 120 days of wait time, after NVC approval.

xDog - hey - yer welcome .

Many things have changed up, since yer join date.

I keep abreast of it, with a specific focus on China, the US Consulate IV unit at Guangzhou.

I'm happy to call your attorney, any time, and make sure (for you) that he's current on Guangzhou stuff.

Send me a PM if you'd like me to call him/her.
