yep! Today is "clean up" day on VJ. There were lots of loose ends that needed tied up after the upgrade. I will be sending out a "we are upgraded" email once they are done!

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I was talking about the stars on each person's home page...the only one that actually had stars highlighted was mine, lol. It said 'user ranking' with 5 stars avail. Everyone else's had no stars, but I could see my own. But now they're gone, lol

Is there a particular reason that other members have the ability to see what topic I'm currently viewing? I'm not exactly sure what function that serves other than give stalkers the ability to stalk...Not that anyone would want to stalk me...I'm just sayin'

March 7, 2005: I-129F NOA1

September 20, 2005: K-1 Interview in London. Visa received shortly thereafter.

AOS

December 30, 2005: I-485 received by USCIS

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008

Not that I would be so inclined. I just thought there ought to be some more options regarding privacy. For example, hiding my email address is necessary because everyone from here to Mars can see it whether they are a member or not. To me I should have the option to let those who are my friends on here (not that I have many) see both my email address and maybe even my IM name without having to share it with the world. I'm not suggesting an in depth privacy policy or anything of that nature. Just a more detailed approach to those options regarding internet privacy. I don't really concern myself so much about the fact people lurking in here know what I'm reading etc. I just think that that particular function serves no real purpose other than to offer those who choose to stalk or play "high school games", as its been referred to, a tool to do so. Rate me, rank me, ridicule me, I'm all good with that but stalk me and spam me.........I'm not so down with that kind of thing.......

Why not have a more in depth check list of those options people might have issues with? That's all I'm suggesting B-)

Actually, historically, that function has been useful in tracking down spammers while they are in the act. We can go where they are spamming and intervene right away. :)

I think the whole ranking thing should be done away with. Or keep it, and make mods have it too. :D

This is something I'm really curious about too. Seems to me that the moderators more often than not have their "moderator hats" off and are participating in the normal ebb and flow of conversation. Moderators are no more or less likely to hand out good advice or bad advice, or whatever else criteria you want to choose for modding a post up or down. And yet from what I understand, moderators are able to use the per-post moderation system just as others are. So why the disparity? Why are mods able to use the per-post moderation system just like all users, but are not subject to per-post moderation themselves?

Oh, I tried to +1 someone, accidentally hit -1, and there's no way to change it. Suckage.
