Hi All.

I just got married last week and want to move forward with all the other paperwork.

First on the list is to get a SS#...however apparently my wife needs to produce an I-94 form?? From what I've read it seems like the US Gvmt should have given this to her along with all the other docs..i.e. she should have it already.

Was she supposed to receive this along with her other K-1 Visa papers? If not, where can I get it?

Thanks for any help,

John

The I-94 is the white card issued to your Fiancee just prior to her coming into the US. For example... If she came in by air she would have been handed the card on the plane and she would have had to fill it out before getting face to face with a POE officer.

The I-94 will be stamped with her entry date and an expiry date 90 days after that entry date. She should have been given the I-94 back after being let through by the POE officer. If she wasn't you'll have to contact the CBP officers at her point of entry to either request a new one or get the old one back. She MUST have this document as copies of it are required for the AOS application and you must be able to present it to get a SSN, Driver lisence etc..

Thanks for the info. What does CBP mean? We flew into JFK/NYC and I checked out the airport's website but can't find any info on this. My wife claims that she was given no card (except the normal customs card where we declare our stuff) and the POE officers took ALL her original papers like the NOA2, the sealed doctor's appt envelopes etc...

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I totally screwed?

CBP = US Customs and Border Protection, i.e. the guys who stamp your documents when you come into the US.

As for if you are screwed, well, its not your wife's fault. The CBP guy should not have allowed her to enter the country without filling in a I-94. I believe there is a form you can fill out to get a replacement.

Check her passport again, to make sure that the I-94 white card isn't in there. If it isn't check anything that her passport might have been in, because it might have fallen out.

I find it hard to believe that a commerial fight would arrive at JFK with the flight crew not going thru the aircraft passing out customs and immigration forms before arrival. This would be the I-94. What did she do with hers??

good news is that there is a replacement available...some form on the USCIS site....its like $195 assuming that the original exists.

Otherwise call the CBP at JFK and ask them what to do.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

It should be stapled in her passport. If not you need to file the I-102
