Took me awhile to figure that out also. When you login into your USCIS account to check status, it will show you last updated date. All that means is they looked at your account for whatever reason. VJ calls that a touch.

So our NOA1 is dated April 6th, our account says last updated April 9th...is that a 'touch'?

Thanks for your reply.

Bingo! Correct.

Excellent! Is it bad that I already know our receipt number by heart? haha

I'm sure I'll become more obsessive (than I already am) with all these dates.

Hmmmm, my NOA1 is dated March 22, 2010 but I'm curious to know why I haven't received any touches. I signed-up for email and text notification on the USCIS site where it states, "Sign-up for Case Updates". The "case update" still says, "We received your Petition on March 22, 2010....". Is this normal?

Yes normal. You wont receive an email or text for when "touched".

Go to the USCIS site and click on "sign-in to my account" on the left side. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp

Log in and you will see where its been last updated.

It says, the last date my case was updated was on March 24, 2010. Is it normal to get no touches at all or one or two? (The reason I'm asking so many questions is becasue, my husband and I travel a lot therefore we aren't able to tell if we've received any correspondence or mail from USCIS - We're heavily relying on the email/text to notify us.)

Is anyone else experiencing this?

You guys live only 40min apart? Oh, I am jealous!

Seems like most cases get touched 2-5 days after the NOA1 date, I wonder why?

Yeah, about 40 minutes...depending on border traffic. I count myself a little lucky that we can see each other at least 4 times a week even though its such a pain to cross the border and deal with the ####### we go through sometimes. It must be so tough to go months without seeing the person you love.

Do they typically 'touch' the case many times before the NOA2?

From searching it seems some get many touches and some get none. It doesnt mean one gets processed any faster than the other.

I wouldnt think too much about the touches. Real updates will be sent to your email/text.

Hello March Filers,

Has anyone else received any information on Biometric Appointments? I read a few people's posts saying that they heard you get word of an appointment for this around 30 days after your NOA1. Not sure if that is just for a particular type of VISA or if it applies to us as well.

Thanks,

Jess
