Hi, I applied for the police record from the uk and received it already. This is the instruction I received by email from them, hope it will help you.

If your last address in the UK was in the London Metropolitan Police area please apply in accordance with the full instructions printed below. If you have lived elsewhere in the UK you must apply to that Police Force or Constabulary. You can contact them via the link page: www.police.uk/forces.asp and click on the Police Force or Constabulary. If you lived in a particular town and need to know what Police Force it is in then click on "Search Forces".

Form 3019B is the one you require. The form can be downloaded from our website at: www.met.police.uk/dataprotection/forms.htm The completed form with payment (10 pounds per applicant) and proof of identity documents must be posted to: The Public Access Office, 20th Floor, Empress State Building, Empress Approach, Lilllie Road, London, SW6 1TR. All documents (including the fee) must be posted together in the same envelope. Full details on how to apply and more information are available on pages from our other two websites at:

www.met.police.uk/dataprotection/faq.htm and www.met.police.uk

The downloaded form can be submitted but the proof of identity documents must be originals. We can only accept a copy of a passport or other original document if a "Notary" or "Justice of the Peace" authenticates it. The combination of a utility bill, birth certificate or other documents mentioned which must be originals and include your full name, address and date of birth are sufficient as proof of identity. The document you supply with your full address on it must be the address where you are currently living, as this is the address the result will be posted to. The documents will be returned to you by recorded delivery once your identity has been verified. Payment must be in sterling and we do not accept foreign cheques, foreign postal orders, credit cards or Euros. We can accept a foreign cheque made out in sterling but it must have a UK cashing address on it. Please make the cheque payable to " The Metropolitan Police Authority" Your bank should be able to advise you, as this is how most citizens pay their 10 pounds fee from abroad. The application will take up to 40 days to process from the date we receive it. Applications cannot be prioritised as we receive over 6000 per month. The result will only be posted to you at your current address, which must be the one you put on the application form. If you require the result to be sent to a different address we must have a signed letter of authority from you and the application form clearly marked to show this.

I hope this answers all your concerns. If you need help or further advice please Email this address: PublicAccessOffice@met.police.uk

If you are not sure about something send them an email, they will reply to you and give you an advice

With the postal order - I asked my friend who lives in the UK to fill it out for me on my name and send it to their address, so she did and it worked.

Good luck.
