Even the person with the gun is not asking for more ammunition and guns, but for the restoration of 'law and order' - doesn't that tell you anything at all?

Well of course and I like I said earlier that when a gun is fired by a law abiding citizen it is usually as a last resort when the law enforcement has failed them. Every law abiding citizen should have the opportunity to arm themselves.

No. I'm saying (and saying it as clear, plain, language as I can to avoid misinterpretation) that it is illogical to contend, as you did, that the experience of ONE GUY GUY WITH A GUN in a disaster zone equates to ALL PEOPLE WITH GUNS in the disaster zone being "better off".

I see the game your playing here, how about this, MOST people who have guns will be better off.

What game? It's what you wrote and there's nothing in the article to substantiate it (hell, even you wouldn't tackled exactly what you mean by "better off".

Whether you say ALL or MANY or MOST, its still an illogical conclusion. Don't you understand that?

The word game. Sure I tackled it, its there go back and read.

Its not a illogical conclusion to say that the law abiding people in this situation are probably better off than those who are not armed.

Good reasons to own a gun:

Interested in:

Hunting

Target shooting

Competition shooting

Member of military

Member of security service

Member of police service

Reasons people give for owning guns that do not make much sense:

Fear of criminal attack

Fear of government oppression

Attention

Wish others to respect you.

So peak oil isn't a reason to own a gun?

Oh dear, let's try again

You have no evidence, none whatsoever, outside of the experience of the one guy described in the article and what you personally want to believe, to suggest with any degree of concrete certainty that "all/most/many people with guns are better off".

There's nothing logical about it.

For that matter, you still haven't clarified what you mean by "better off". More food? Less crime, less earthquake damage? What is it exactly?

Your kidding right, jeez. Having protection in dangerous situations is a plus, and face it you would take a gun given the opportunity. Why, well because chances are you would be better off. I know you want to hang your hat on that having a gun could be used against you, but I just dont buy it.

I have to go

Once again.... You said that one guy with a gun firing warning shots = everyone with a gun in that situation being "better off". Again, no proof beyond the article that this man's experience is common (i.e. It is entirely your opinion, not supported by anything anywhere in the article) or what constitutes those people "better off".

Come on, just go get a gun, you know you want to.
