Good day VJ's,

I've got my appointment letter today from NVC regarding the date of interview (april 22). I'm just a lil confused with the visa fee and the documents to bring during the interview. First, do i have to pay another $400 at the embassy or not? Second, do i have to provide another copies of the documents aside from those copies i sent to NVC during the processing?

And lastly, to all my co-Pinay VJ's sino yong magpapamedical this month? hehehe :bonk:

I haven't got my interview yet, but I am having the same confusion regarding bring original documents to the interview to show the interviewer that those copies they receive with DS-230 form are indeed genuine, but the question is, will they keep the original docs at the interview ?

bill - are you sticking with I-130 or I-129F?

If a K-3 at the embassy - ya - there are more fees.

If a CR-1/IR-1 at the embassy - no - not more fees to be paid - except for the medical exam, and visa packet delivery.

I'm confused when I study yer timeline - but I think you paid AOS and IV fees last quarter, in 2009, at NVC, ya? If that's the case, no - yer done, for now (except medical and delivery).

Good Luck !

thebirdman - you are homed to montreal, doing NVC EP, yes? sorry - must bring all originals that were submitted to NVC, to Montreal, on Interview Day. Is requirement. If you are confused about it, please go back to yer prior topics, re-read my replies AND links to you.

Good Luck !

You actually get back the originals that you sent in to the NVC. Generally it'd be a good idea to bring in photo copies just in case, but I haven't heard of anyone that's had their originals lost.

If memory serves me correct, a K3 visa will cost another $100 at the time of interview. That's what my wife and I had to pay at time of her K3 interview.

For CR1/IR1 there are no additional fees paid to the embassy. However, I would make sure that all civil documents have not expired..eg..police clearance needs to be within 1 year..6 months best.

**** filed K3/CR1 concurrently. My wife and I both work/live overseas. The following timeline continues from the approval of the K3 VISA.

Yes, SassyandSwoop is correct. You (and/or the beneficiary) will receive the original documents back at the US Embassy during the interview. Once a case is completed at the NVC, the case package (which includes the original documents) is sent to the Embassy in the country where the interview will take place. Just in case, you guys should still bring photocopies with you to the interview. Good luck!

I'm sticking with I-130. Originally, the petition was K-3 but it has been denied and reaffirmed. and yes i've already paid AOS and IV fees at the NVC and so submitted all my original documents. My documents is valid til July and some are next year so i'm not worried about it.

Darnell, I live in Vancouver area, there's a US Embassy here in downtown. You sure I still have to go to Montreal for the interview ?

Darnell, yes, I will be doing EP.

Let me rephrase my previous question, will US Interviewer get to keep my original documents after the interview ?

This is the email they sent me:

"All further communication with NVC will now be done through this email address NVCElectronic@state.gov.

All documents and forms that we request and require from you should be scanned copies of the originals. The applicant must present all original forms and documents to the Consular officer at the visa interview. Failure to present the required originals at the visa interview will result in a denial or delay in obtaining a visa for the sponsored applicant."

See for now I scan those docs and send to them via email and show them the original documents at the interview. What I am worrying now is they may keep the original, will they ?

The 'general rule' - is that all 'original documents' are to be returned on Interview day, to the Visa applicant (the person being interviewed). Usually - this happens, on a PAPER case, because the person handling the paperwork follwed the instructions - which is specific on original documents to state - include original plus one regular photocopy when submitting via paper to NVC.

Most people on EP not need to supply 'additional photocopies' - as all is stored electronically, easily available to be printed out at the IV unit. But .. this is a hard one to fathom, ya?

You are REQUIRED to 'show' all original documents plus the I-864 and DS-230 form on interview day, because yuo are an EP case. IMO, you'll be able to keep yer originals. If any issue about them - the IV unit wants something, ya? Make regular photocopy of this stuff, for 'just in case', and bring in originals plus regular photocopy for interview day.

Good Luck !

Good advice Darnell. One more question, you mentioned I-864, does that mean my wife has to go to Montreal and do the interview together with me, or I just need to present them a copy of the I-864 + her supporting documents (tax stubs and such) ?

Sorry, I used words inappropriately.

in that context, for interview day - 'You' = Foreign Spouse, not a US Citizen.

My apologies for my confusion.
