Hi Everyone,

We have our I-130 appointment this week and I am just going over all our paperwork. Would any of you be so kind to share your experiences from the I-130 interview.

Our appointment is in Ottawa, but the location doesn't make a difference to me...I'm just trying to get a feel. The anxiousness and excitement is starting to surface...and yes nervous!

I appreciate anyones experiences, just so I have somewhat of an idea.

Thank you!

Lily

post is in green cause I am...lol

Hi

My husband filed the I-130 and they took all of our documentation and they asked him how long he had lived in Australia for and why he had moved over to Australia with me. They asked how we met and how long we had been married for. And that was it!

When I went for my visa interview last week, they only asked me if I had been married before, and how many children I had. The interviewer said that as our paperwork was perfect, she didn't need to ask me any more questions. My husband's interview lasted about 2 mins and mine (including fingerprinting and signing paperwork) took 2 mins. Smooth and painless.

I hope this helps!

We filed our I-130 in Ottawa few weeks ago and there really weren't any questions.

We simply submitted all the docs, paid the $355 USD via credit card, and that was that!

Ofcourse, prior to walking into the embassy, we spoke to one man there who had sent us an email containing all the documents we should be bringing with us... they wanted to see all the originals even though if you were to file 'other than' via consulate you can just submit photocopies of your documents.. so make sure you got your originals..

PM me and maybe we can stay in touch and see how each of our filing is progressing......

take care,

choles

As a helpful tool for the rest of us Canadian DCFers, can I suggest you create and link to your timeline? :)

Thank you for your replies and ease of mind. We are finally in the system with our I-130...WooHoo! Thank you to everyone...the IO stated we were very organized and thanked us for having copies. The entire process was only about 15 minutes; mainly passing documents through the window and confirming documents. The only questions were was my DH married previously...in which he answered No. I brought our evidence of marriage but the IO stated it wasn't needed, our marriage certificate was evidence enough.

TY everyone...we are so excited to have jumped this hurdle!

Lily

Hey Lily, congrats on the first big step. :)

You can put down 03/18 as your NOA1 (acceptance of the I-130), now you're just waiting for your approval to come from Montreal. You can come and settle in with me! :P:lol:

Question- we've made copies of everything in our I-130/I-864 packet. Do the copies go in with the packet or do we hand them a separate packet with copies?

Hi Kristin,

I separated the originals from the copies; 2 separate piles and handed them through the window....stickies on the front of each pile; Originals Documents and Copies. Hope this helps.

Best of Luck!

Hi Birdnerd,

Ty for the help! :) I'm still green! lol

Well, as of today DH Canadian Police certificate arrived; X box marked-No record found.

We have made an appointment with DH's physician for an updated Immunization Record and or a Titer Test. He has his Ministry of Health Card and a separate Record with his physician, so just trying to ensure he has all immunizations as required. At that time, we'll request a letter as to his last physical and results. Hoping the famous MTL number arrives soon!

Oh and UPS tried to deliver my sisters completed I864 documents! But I wasn't home...thats ok...I have the weekend to get that all together!

Hope you are well and all is moving ahead,

Lily
