My fiancee is from Brazil, and we are in the final stages of the K-1 visa process. Her interview is in early April, and we are starting to look at flight options for her to come to the U.S. Is it necessary to book a round-trip flight, or can we book only a one-way flight? Thanks!

It doesn't matter. Buy whatever is cheaper for you.

My travel agent said that they can't sell one way tickets to people that are not US citizens, so I had to buy both ways. Not sure if that is a policy of her company or something universal.

they can´t???? I think they want to win more money. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a round-trip, at least in my case it is. My advice, look for other options and buy the cheapest.

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

Yes, you can buy a ONE WAY ticket.. Travel agencies cant force you to buy a round trip.. You will need to present a copy of your visa..

Interesting that your travel agent told you that. I was once in a bar and some guy told me that most people in the US are from outer space. I said "that's nonsense" so he got out a knife and cut that one guy's face up and . . . what do you know? Red blood was gushing out. So I guess he was wrong after all.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I saved approximately $250 by purchasing a one-way ticket from Northern Colombia to Los Angeles International in November '09. I purchased on-line via COPA airlines, and there were no hassles nor issues to speak of. My Fiancee arrived in Los Angeles at her POE and we went straight to Denny's and then home. So, no worries to speak of.
