Is this your first meeting together?

Any reason she doesn't want you to visit her in her hometown where she can introduce you to her friends and family? Meeting somebody in a 3rd country isn't an qualifier, but there's some anecdotal evidence that having met her family and friends makes the interviews go a little smoother. I personally would want to meet my intended's family and friends before making the big leap. :)

I met everybody in her hometown, mom dad friends, friends in kiev. I would love to go back there actually cheaper but if you read what i posted "She wanted some place warm" and i have my head in another direction such has car and home here and having her degree translated things like that. Would only have 4 days together due to work may 27=31 so time and travel and money all become a issue at that point. The easy thing for me is meet in Kiev and more cost effective.

If you have the money, make it happen.

My "put some of the burden on her" post was intended for a newer K-1 poster (haven't seen you around here, don't know your status) as we sometimes get guys on here who pay for everything, arrange everything, do everything, etc., never stopping to think that maybe this grown woman is capable of doing something for herself and maybe she's simply saying yes to the offer, not to him. (It happens more than you'd think.)

If you've already met several times, hell, do whatever you can.

Thanks, This is my second time around in the K-1 process. My first "K-1" marriage ended in divorce three years ago. I have to say the process is a little different this time around. The paper work is the same but since 9/11 and then the INS being the main bidy in control alot things have changed especially the time it took to get the lady here. First time whole process was 90. Jan 17 1999 Arived April 6, 1999.

Didn't you say something about knowing each other through family, or something?

This will probably make me sound like a ####, but I personally believe you should be putting some of the burden on your SO in the early stages. Either make her travel a long way or pay for some of the trip herself. Almost nobody will turn down a free vacation to paradise, but when you make her bear some of the burden, it will show her commitment level.

I think that prepares him very well for being married to a gal from Ukraine. Knowing that the planning and the paying are his job. No?

Yeah, I know her family. Our families have been friends since before both of us were born.

I was just playing with Mox, wasn't being serious :)

Are you guys going to settle in West Virginia or Kentucky? Either way should be fine, as long as you're family.

Was thinking Alabama. Kids with 11 toes are more accepted there, no?
