I submitted my wife's AOS packet and got our Receipt #. On the I-485 documents I used her original Ukraine family name. On her new Visa (Green Card) she wants her new marriage name with her first name, Ukraine last name, and then my last name on her Green Card. At what point do we let USCIS know of her wishes? Can this be requested at her upcoming Biometrics appointment? We want her new name to be on her Green Card, SSN, and new updated International Passport. Thanks for any and all help/responses.

The biometrics is kind of separate from the rest of the processing - they just take fingerprints and photos and don't deal with any of the other stuff. You'll have to wait and ask at the interview or call the helpline (800) 375-5283 for advice. I moved house between the AOS interview and having my green card mailed, so they had to mail it twice and change the address. It wasn't a problem.

I filed my AOS under my maiden name on the advice of my lawyer. When I had the interview the officer asked for my name and I said I was going by my married name and he simply changed it on my application for me and had me sign it. I dont think it is anything to worry about.

Thanks for posting. My wife got her NOA1 after only 5 days (to Chicago and back to Calfornia). Good turn around time. I noticed your timeline and it seems very good. We had a good turn around on her K-1 visa approval (2 months). How can I make arraingements to go to a Visa Support Center? My nearest office is Goleta. I don't want to go to Los Angeles if I can help it. Can I use INFOPASS to request she have her Biometrics done in Goleta?

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think you can request to have biometrics done at a certain place. I think they just tell you when and where to go. If you have an office close to you where it wouldnt be a big deal if you went to an INFOPASS and they told you no, then it probably wouldnt hurt.
