More Questions/Comments..

1) When I look at other VJers profiles...There is no link for "timeline", like there was in the old VJ....(lol..don't mind me, I like looking at timelines..just curious...)

2) Whatever happened to the "country flag" in my profile?

3) When going onto a forum, it says the number of people browsing the forum, but not who is browsing, like in the old VJ...

4) "Immigration Info" in profiles spacing not aligned yet...looks kind of odd....

5) What is "Reputation"....Can you explain this new feature further?

6) I like the new "status" update on the top of the profiles...

7) I like the way friends are organized now (lol..though I choose to hide such...)

8) Too bad about the emoticons/faces next to the post topics title on the forums boards...Oh well.....That had to go, I suppose, as those made some topics stand out more than others...Now it's all equal...

Ant

1) you can access people's timelines if you look under their avatar pic on the left hand side of their post...

3) that is still there.. you need to scroll almost all the way down to the bottom of the page..

I'll admit, I was very much a fan of the older layout in comparison to this.

- With a widescreen resolution, the main text body appears far too wide. Visually, it doesn't feel formatted correctly.

- The colour scheme hurts. Unless users choose to change their signature colours, the pale grey is extremely difficult to read.

- I liked having the list/number of users viewing the current topic right below the thread itself. It took awhile to figure out that it was further down the page, it was much more convenient being right in plain view before.

- Profile statuses... Not that I stumble through others' profiles all that often, but if folks start posting status updates like some tend to on places like Facebook, etc, I will likely steer clear entirely.

- Reputation? No idea what this is, or if it was implemented before the layout change.

Having said that, I do like...

- The new settings/messenger panel at the top.

- The new, simplistic main header at the top.

- The removal of the icons next to each thread. Like Ant pointed out, makes all threads equal now. I like.

- The number of posts listed.

Reputation (we will see how it works out) lets you rate other members in their posts based on your opinion. We will have to see if this is abused but it is a much more "fair" way to asses a persons background for new members than total post count :P.

Ah, that sounds like a good idea, and I agree, a much fairer way to attribute worth to a person's advice than their post count.

Hope it doesn't get abused.

The PM system is down until further notice while they link things up to the new system.

Believe there is a post about it at the top of each individual forum.

The private messaging system is still off line. Captain Ewok stated in his announcements at the top of each forum that the PM system would be off today and hopefully back tomorrow. It is all part of migrating over to the new software. Not being able to access your PMs is only temporary.

Did the edit button disappear? Can't find it..

How does the reputation system work?

I hope your screen isn't different than mine but on mine at the lower right hand side after you post your message there should be a button that says edit. Next to it is reply and beside that multi-quote. There is still a time limitation on how long you can edit your messages - I believe it is 5 minutes. I don't know if the edit button disappears after that or not.

The way the reputation system works is on each post also in the lower right hand corner immediately above the multi-quote button is a small box that has a 0 in it. In front of the box is a plus or a minus. If you click the plus or minus it adds or subtracts points from that small box. So, ideally, lots of plus clicks indicates a poster who offers consistently good advice - has a good reputation. Lots of minus clicks means that this poster doesn't have a very good reputation for offering good advice. Hopefully the system won't be abused.

I have adjusted the default siggy color to be darker and larger sized. I also tweaked the background color so that things are less "white" in the posts/topics. Similar to before.

Ewok and Kathryn- Thanks for the explaination about the "reputation" system....Now I understand..;)

I agree, it is more "fair" than just a system of post count (though it was nice to include post count in profiles too), as there can be bad posts amongsts the posts counts too...

I think there needs to be more of an explaination about this new system though...

As umm..a small box in the corner is hard to find...

Maybe put a link in the profile to explain about such on a separate page too?...

I hope it isn't abused either.....Hope this new idea works too...
