Hello

I applied for AOS last October, and did my biometrics done in November, and

received EAD in December.

However, I have not heard anything from USCIS since then, and my on-line status

report says "initial review".

It's been almost 6 months.

Is it usual?

It's not unusual, let's say. There is a wide variety of time lines for approvals of AOS - for instance mine took 22 months, no rhyme or reason or explanation. Other's take 3 or 4 months. 6 to 7 months seems to be within usual range. If you are concerned you can always make an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and ask them in person. There is really no point in calling the 1-800 number as you only speak to Call Center staff who have access to the same computer information you do, nothing more. You've done your biometrics, you have your receipt and you have your EAD. I expect you should hear something soon. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I think it is unusual because I know that the processing time for Philadelphia local office is 4 months ( that is what I was told when I called them and you can look at my timeline ). I think that you should call them and since your application is outside the timeline they can place a service request for you and maybe you will be able to find out what is going on with yoyr application.

We are in the same boat..We filed for my aos late sept 2009 and it is still "initial review" too from after it was transferred to csc last jan 20. Im trying to be patient too because I really can't do anything about it and calling them doesn't really help either.Let's just pray it finish soon. I know how you feel.

Since your case was transferred to CSC, you may very well be looking at an approval with no interview.

I know it depends on the cases before ones and the complexity, possibly, but my wife and I filed for AOS in December 2009, and she did Biometrics in February 2010. We will be having AOS Interview this month, March 2010.

Hope yours will be very soon.

Hello! And congrats on your Visa Journey with your loved one! I am currently getting into the AOS process.. My fiance arrived in the U.S. Jan 7th of this year from Jamaica.. His passport was stamped April 7th- which is EXACTLY 90 days. The government states you have to get married and file an AOS in that time.. My question is this... your time line states your loved one came on 8-28-09 but you didn't mail out your AOS documents until 12-18-09... This is PASSED the 90 days.. Didn't you have only until November 28th??? I'm confused.. The USCIS gives the immigrant 6 months to leave their country and once entered into the United States they only have 90 days to get married and file AOS. Or is your time line a typo?
