I'm a college student and working part time so obviously I can't provide enough financial support. My father-in-law has filled out a 134f and gotten the necessary evidence. I'm wondering if I have to write a 134f and provide evidence also because he will be able to support us and can prove it. If I write the form, it won't really prove anything. I have a part time job, making 8 bucks an hour, that I just started this week (transferred from another job). I'm filing for taxes the first time this year too. So obviously I can't PROVE that I'll support her (though I have enough savings for us to be okay). So I'm wondering if I need to submit a 134f cause I've never seen anything on official documents about co-sponsors and whatnot. There's always just the one 134f form.

Thanks!

Yes, you do.

Add your savings to the form as well.

You should prepare your own affidavit even if another person is acting as sponsor.

There is no such thing as a "primary" sponsor for the I134, just as there is no such thing as a "joint" sponsor. Read the instructions for the form and you'll find no wording pertaining to anything other than ONE sponsor when this form is used to adjudicate financial sponsorship.

Some consulates will want the petitioner to prepare an I134 even if the beneficiary is producing an I134 from another party. Some consulates will not. The CO needs only ONE I134 to satisfy DOS requirements for sponsorship of a non immigrant visa. Some consulates however will have internal policy which requires an affidavit from the petitioner even if they do not meet the financial thresholds themselves.

So best to be prepared with both. Even if yours (petitioners) will be binned after the interview.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Yes, and there's no such thing as an I-134F. It's an I-134.
