hi all! and thanks for taking time reading my somewhat unfortunate and complicated story.

i lost my GC while on vacation abroad (got transportation letter from the embassy for me to get back in the US). my POE was Detroit and got held by the immigration for 40 mins and all, and the officer filed I-90 for me and said he will send it to the uscis but now im having doubts if he really did. i paid $375 i believe for a new gc plus biometrics. and since then (jan 19,2010) i never heard anything from my case and every time i called the uscis they said there's no update in my file since july 2009 (which when i got my 10 yr gc)... been 50+ days already and the best thing i can do perhaps is go to our local office which is a long drive and ask what the heck is going on! lol...

i guess my question now out of curiosity is that can i file for citizenship this coming april with a pending case I-90 or do i need to wait for my new gc somehow?

God bless!

Did you get any sort of a receipt for the fee to accompany the I-90 that the officer said he filed for you? If so, hang on to it and include that when you submit your naturalization application. It does sound strange that you have not yet received the NOA1 for the I-90 but if you have proof of having paid the money to USCIS and have your travel letter from the Consulate, you should be able to file without the actual green card in hand. Good luck. (include copies of the receipt and the letter, btw, not the originals - bring those to the interview).
