I met my wife almost 20 years ago while studying Architecture and while we were friends and classmates and I liked her, we were both in relationships and we lost touch for 14 years. I then got married and had a horrible marriage and got divorced shortly before meeting May. By coincidence, thanks to a High School reunion, I joined FaceBook and a mutual friend of ours suggested that I add my wife as a friend, and almost from our first conversation, I immediately felt such a strong connection, we were talking about everything in our lives for 10 hours!! I shared my deepest and darkest secrets with her, which I now regret lol..cause some of those things you would never tell your wife!!! Just kidding. But it was obvious the feeling was mutual and we were in love. A year and 3 months after we found each other, we got married in Hong Kong and had a beautiful honeymoon in Bali.

But back to our story, when we found each other again, we were talking to each other everyday for hours on end for 3 months and I had $1000+ phone bills before I couldn't stand it any longer and took an international flight to Asia to be with her and see if there was any physical spark. Most definitely there was. The moment we laid eyes on each other, I couldn't believe how beautiful she was. We hugged for what seemed like eternity, and we cried, and we laughed, and we kissed. That lead to me flying to see her practically every other month. I accumulated over 130,000 miles last year. I miss her everyday though we talk morning and night but that's still not enough. Skype Video helps, but it's not the same!!!!!

Whenever I read peoples stories on VJ, it seems that most couples are already together in some way?? Maybe I'm mistaken, but it seems our situation isn't so common?

Unfortunately, my wife is living in Taiwan, and I'm here in the US, and all we want is to be together so we can wait out the citizenship issues. We don't care about how long it takes to get a green card. Unfortunately, all the flying I did cost me my savings and I am unable to fly to see her for awhile, and it's torture...sigh. I bought a house for us to live in, I have an extra car for her to drive, I've already put her name on our bills and car insurance and now I'm just working like mad to support all of this and trying to have enough money to go see her again. This would ALL be sooooo much easier if we were together...from even just an emotional stand point. Sometimes I just want to cry...thanks for listening.

Interesting reply, not sure if this is really serious or not..I can barely understand any of it......not sure where to begin. First off, I am not an architect. I went to school to be an architect and that's where I met my wife. Neither one of us continued with the practice. I have a small business manufacturing and selling automotive car care products. What was I doing 30 years ago? Hmm, I'm 39, so I guess that would mean I was going to elementary school and living at home with my parents.

During the past 20 years I was married and got divorced, then I met my wife by coincidence.

I didn't say I spent my savings in 2 months. I said that between my own business and my personal life, and our wedding, and travel costs over the past year, the money I had is now mostly gone.

I'm a US citizen and have been all my life. My wife lived in the States for 20 years legally but she never became a US citizen.
